Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) II is a professional caregiver who takes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a specific time period. The RN II provides patient care using the nursing process, self, environment, instrumentation, and other healthcare team members.


Essential Responsibilities:
  • Conducts assessment/data collection systematically, focusing on various patient aspects like physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status.
  • Develops a goal-directed care plan as needed.
  • Implements care consistently, thoroughly, and skillfully.
  • Sets priorities based on patient needs and available resources.
  • Identifies patient/family learning needs and addresses them.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to patient/family rights, cultural beliefs, and ethical considerations.
  • Establishes effective relationships with the healthcare team, patients, and families.
  • Delegates tasks appropriately and coordinates responsibilities among team members.
  • Evaluates care effectiveness provided by team members.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of safety principles within the institution.
  • Acts efficiently in emergency situations, following protocols and documenting events.
  • Takes accountability for professional practice and participates in staff development activities.
  • Shows awareness of legal issues and patient confidentiality.
  • Engages in Performance Improvement and nursing research activities.
  • Identifies and resolves problems effectively.
  • Embraces a service-oriented approach in interactions with patients and team members.
  • Provides input for staffing decisions and remains flexible when floating to other units.
  • Performs other necessary duties.
If operating in a specialty/extended role, meets role expectations.

SPECIALITY AREAS
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience: 1 year of recent oncology practice experience including working with chemotherapeutic agents within the last three years.
- Education: High School Diploma/GED and completion of an accredited registered nursing program with required clinical experience hours.
- License, Certification, Registration: Registered Nurse License (California) and Basic Life Support certification.
Additional Requirements:
  • Knowledge of RN scope of practice.
  • Commitment to service orientation.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Adherence to specified Position Specifications in the appropriate agreement.
- Completion of ONS, ONS-equivalent, or Chemotherapy Administration training within a year.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in specialty preferred.
