Alternative Fuel Program Specialist (Transit) ( Engineering Technician 3 A) position in the Office of Transportation Division.
About the Position:
Reporting to the Section Chief, Fleet and Facilities, the Alternative Fuel Coordinator is responsible for the daily oversight and strategic planning, coordination and monitoring of the transit Zero Emission Bus (ZEB) program operated by the Department of Public Works & Transportation.
These programs include all aspects of vehicle operations, charging operability, and general maintenance as well as activities related to facility infrastructure design and usage.
The position will coordinate across multiple departments to provide input and recommendations based on data analysis and best practices to allow DPW&T to operate the ZEB fleet, and other alternative fueled buses in the most efficient manner possible.
Examples of WorkWhat You'll Do:
Monitors zero emission bus operation and maintenance, including charging/fueling strategies and provide recommendations to operations/maintenance contractor for managing associated utility costs to the County.

What You'll Need:
High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by college level courses in higher mathematics (algebra, trigonometry, geometry) and civil engineering plus,
Four (4) years of para-professional engineering experience.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
The Alternative Fuel Coordinator requires skills in project management, data analysis and technical writing including a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering, environmental science, public administration or related field.
Ability to be detail-oriented and be proficient with data analysis, spreadsheet usage and technical writing. Ability to work independently under general supervision.
Ability to exercise independent judgement and to keep information confidential; organize complex materials and manage multiple projects; maintain accurate records; gather, interpret, analyze, evaluate, and present a variety of data, solve problems and present alternatives.
Skills in building relationships with stakeholders. Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience with a fleet maintenance management system, preferably M5. Strong interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and create positive connections with customers.Ability to meet goals to increase efficiency improving customer service.

General Plan Information:
The Prince George's County benefits plan year is from January 1 to December 31.
A spouse (to include a same sex spouse) can be added to the health benefit plans. A marriage certificate and social security number is required to add a spouse.

The effective date of the health benefits coverage is the
beginning of the month following a waiting period of forty-five (45) days from the date of hire.
After enrolling in the County's benefit plans, employees may only make changes to the plans either during the open enrollment period, which occurs annually (usually each October), and/or during the year, due to a family status change (i.e., marriage, births, divorce and adoption).
