    About The Role & Team

    We are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead the engineering organization that enables enterprise customers to efficiently instrument, manage and consume their data in Amplitude.

    The ideal candidate should be excited about delivering products that delight customers, managing the health of the codebase so it scales to handle the increased demand from our customers, building effective organizations and supporting the growth of engineers and managers.


    As a Director of Engineering, you will:

    Mentor managers reporting into you, leveraging their strengths to drive exceptional business results and challenging them to continue to grow their careers at Amplitude.

    Ensure high technical standards in your teams around product performance and quality by instituting good processes, fostering engineering driven innovation and building a culture of engineering excellence.

    Build the short and long term engineering roadmaps. Partner with product and design partners to develop strategic product roadmaps.

    Clearly communicate on technical topics and provide both timely and accurate information on timelines and dependencies.
    Establish a clear vision, set clear goals for your teams. Drive high urgency and throughput in each of your teams.

    You'll be a great addition to the team if you have:12+ years of management and software development experience in building complex, high-scale enterprise services and products.

    5+ years of experience managing teams of 25+ engineers and multiple managers.
    A track record of building effective organizations and teams, including hiring and growing managers and senior individual contributors.
    Experience with Data Governance infrastructure (RBAC, Data Quality, etc) is a plus
    Nice to have GenAI, LLMs experience.
    BS (or higher) in Computer Science, or a related field.

    Salary range:
    $296,000 - $444,000 total target cash inclusive of bonus.

    Based on legislation in California, the following details are for individuals who will work for Amplitude in California outside of the San Francisco Bay Area


    California salary range:
    $266,000 - $399,000 total target cash inclusive of bonus.
