    College Overview

    Hudson County Community College (HCCC) is an award-winning, comprehensive urban college serving one of the most historic and ethnically diverse areas of the United States.     HCCC has three campuses located just minutes from Manhattan: the Journal Square campus in Jersey City and North Hudson Campus in Union City are adjacent to vital transportation hubs; the Secaucus Center has abundant parking. Fully accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the College offers courses and classes in a wide variety of disciplines to the people and businesses of Hudson County, one of the most ethnically diverse areas of the United States. The College was recently recognized with the 2021 Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Northeast Regional Equity Award, and the 2021 INSIGHT Into Diversity's Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award. In 2016 the Gabert Library was one of three academic libraries in the United States to receive the Excellence in Academic Libraries Award from the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), and in 2019 the HCCC Tutoring Center received the Frank L. Christ Outstanding Learning Center Award for Two-Year Institutions. In 2019, the College joined Achieving the Dream, a network of high achieving community colleges, part of its expanding effort toward continuous improvement in student success.

    HCCC has partnerships with every major four-year college and university in the greater New Jersey-New York area and beyond, accommodating seamless transfer of credits for further undergraduate and graduate education.     Department/Division Introduction

    The Culinary Arts Institute (CAI) of HCCC was founded in 1983. The current Culinary Conference Center facility was opened in 2006 and contains 12 culinary arts and baking and pastry laboratories. The receiving clerk position works within the purchasing department of the CAI working to provide inventory for lab classes. The College is currently looking for full-time and part-time receiving clerks. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Business, Culinary, Hospitality Management and the Purchasing and Scheduling Coordinator. The full-time receiving clerk position is a temporary full-time position at 35 hours per week, ending on June 30, 2022. The part time receiving clerk position begins upon hire and is valid for a minimum of 12 months.

    Position Summary/Job Description
    • The part-time receiving clerk is authorized to work up to 24 hours a week.
    • Must be able to work on your feet for extended periods of time.
    • Complete any other relevant tasks as deemed appropriate by the purchasing and scheduling coordinator.
    • Under the direction of the purchasing and scheduling coordinator, the full-time receiving clerk is responsible for receiving and maintaining inventory of all goods and supplies on a daily, weekly and monthly basis; checking all invoices and shipment for accuracy and account for location of all incoming goods.
    Required/Minimum Qualifications

    Applicants must have a culinary or baking background and have a minimum of one year of food service experience in a commercial setting. Demonstrated ability to interact with a culturally diverse population and to effectively and respectfully function and communicate within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities, and cultural backgrounds.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Applicants should have an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts or be a Certified ServSafe Manager.
