The Associate Director of Advancement Marketing and Communications will serve as the lead
communications specialist for Fairfield University's Advancement Division. University Advancement
seeks to build lasting relationships with students, parents, alumni, and friends while securing significant
philanthropic support through a variety of programs including Alumni Relations, Leadership & Major Gifts,
Annual Giving, Athletics Giving, Reunion Giving, Planned Giving, Parent Giving, Corporate Giving, and
Special Events. The position will support Advancements efforts to achieve annual fundraising milestones
that have recently exceeded $30 million in cash and commitments. The Associate Director will serve as a
member of a collaborative team to promote and enhance the reputation and brand of the University and
will report directly to the Vice President of Marketing & Communications while working closely with the
Vice President for Advancement.
The Associate Director will partner with members of the Advancement Division to develop and execute multichannel
communication strategies that promote the impact of philanthropy and highlight giving
opportunities across the University to donors and prospects. These efforts will be focused on engaging a
wider audience of alumni, parents, and friends across channels in an effort to raise more support and
increase the University's Alumni Participation Rate. The Associate Director will create communication plans
including but not limited to, creative design, media channel planning, and event activation to increase
awareness and participation and advance the University's goals.
The Associate Director will oversee a staff dedicated to writing myriad appeals, brochures, article
support all the departments within Advancement , and developing and executing strategies for the
Advancement Division and will develop best practices using available research and data to develop
outreach and visibility pans that are regularly reviewed for outcomes and effectiveness. The Associate
Director must be skilled at managing up, down, and across various campus partners to ensure sound
communication, coordination and delivery against project milestones. They will use program
management tools and processes established to assign responsibilities, manage deadlines, complete
tasks, and track results. In addition, this individual will prepare presentations and performance reporting
for all of the above on a regular basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in communications, business, marketing, or another related field
required.
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in marketing,
development, communications, or related environment.
