Director of Business Development - Oklahoma City, United States - Kinsley Power Systems

    Default job background
    Description
Director of Business Development - Private Client Practice

    Location:
    Dallas

    Business Function:
    Global Investment Services

We are a prominent global investment firm focused on assisting high net worth private clients, endowments & foundations, and pension plans in implementing and managing custom investment portfolios to achieve outperformance and maximize their global impact.

Collaborating with early clients, Cambridge Associates introduced the strategy of high-equity orientation and broad diversification, which has been a key driver of performance for institutional investors since the 1980s.

Currently, we offer various portfolio management services, including outsourced CIO, non-discretionary portfolio management, investment staff extension, and asset class mandates.

Cambridge Associates has offices in major financial hubs worldwide, headquartered in Boston, MA.

Working with sophisticated institutional investors globally, we bring extensive knowledge of portfolio management best practices to our clients, selecting colleagues based on their potential to contribute to a collaborative, intelligent, and hard-working team.

    Position Overview:
Cambridge Associates is looking to recruit a Business Development Director to join our private client practice. The private client business focuses on single family offices and ultra-high-net-worth individuals with investment assets exceeding $200 million.

The role involves partnering with investment teams to identify, prioritize, and commercialize relationships with centers of influence (e.g., attorneys, accountants, and family office service providers) as well as attracting new family offices while retaining and expanding existing client relationships.

The primary responsibility is to discover potential clients and collaborate with investment teams and business development colleagues to cultivate and close these opportunities.

New opportunities will be sourced from two areas: 1) efforts by the business development team to understand the existing clients of each investment team and leverage these networks for new opportunities, and 2) practice-wide strategies to leverage broader firm networks with institutional clients and investment managers.

Success will be assessed based on effective collaboration with investment teams and business development colleagues resulting in new AUA/AUM from private clients, qualified leads added to the opportunity pipeline, and the development and advancement of key relationships with family office centers of influence.

The business development professional will utilize Cambridge Associates colleagues, in-depth manager research, and thought leadership in marketing and selling the firm's portfolio management services.

The individual will report directly to the Private Client Practice Head of Business Development.

    Position Description:

The Business Development Director will collaborate closely with regional Business Development Directors, the Global Private Client Practice Head, Private Client Business Development and Client Relationship Management Leads, and specific investment teams within the Private Client Practice to coordinate coverage of available opportunities among a select group of investment teams.

This individual must identify potential opportunities and align prospective client needs with Cambridge Associates' service offerings.

Once a potential family opportunity is identified, the Business Developer will work with the regional Business Development Director, private client practice leadership, and the designated investment team to oversee the sales process.

The role necessitates significant teamwork and collaboration within Cambridge Associates.

The individual should manage numerous clients, prospects, and potential referral sources with various needs effectively.

The primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    - Develop a deep understanding of Cambridge Associates' investment services, processes, and philosophy and communicate the firm's capabilities with internal and external stakeholders and potential clients.
    - Work closely with designated investment teams to assess ecosystem clients, prospects, and influencers (e.g., attorneys, CPAs, other family office advisors).

    - Establish a pipeline for a selected group of investment teams, identifying relationships with potential single families and professional advisors who could recommend Cambridge Associates' services.

    - Conduct background research on all groups and individuals.
    - Collaborate with regional Business Development Directors and investment teams to implement engagement and outreach plans across clients, prospects, and centers of influence.
    - Handle calls with potential clients, evaluate opportunities, and apply business acceptance criteria to achieve revenue growth and profitability goals.
    - Draft proposal letters to referral sources, clients, and potential clients to present all aspects of the firm and its services.
    - Prepare PowerPoint materials for meetings with clients, potential clients, and influencers.
    - Schedule and plan prospective client meetings with investment teams.
    - Coordinate client and prospect meeting preparations with investment teams for effective sales discussions.
    - Contribute significantly to new revenue generation for the firm through client acquisition and management of existing client relationships.
    - Track all activities in the CRM system.
    - Attend and network at selected conferences and events.
    - Collaborate closely with colleagues at Cambridge Associates across various groups including business development, marketing, firm & practice leadership, investment directors, legal, and finance.
    - Proactively share industry trends, competitive insights, and lessons learned with colleagues at Cambridge Associates.
Qualifications for the Business Development position include:

The Business Developer must possess a professional demeanor, be motivated, articulate, polished, organized, and disciplined, aligning with Cambridge Associates' collegial culture.

A strong networking DNA, business acumen, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with high energy are crucial aspects of the role, along with flexibility and patience.

The ideal candidate should excel in a team environment, striving to enhance the professionals around them.
    Specific attributes and qualifications comprise:
    - 8-12 years of business development experience in the investment industry, preferably with UHNW families.
    - Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
    - Strong listening and organizational skills.
    - Ability to work independently with a high level of responsibility while collaborating effectively with business development team members and investment teams.
    - Drive for results, goal-setting, and achievement.
    - Competitive mindset and passion for team success.
    - Proficient in managing long-term relationships and initiating new client connections.
    - Series 3 certification (must pass the exam within three months of employment).
    - Undergraduate degree is required.

    EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYMENT

The firm upholds the principle of equal employment opportunity and prohibits discrimination based on race, color, religion, age, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or veteran status.

It is expected that all employees will adhere to a similar policy in their interactions with colleagues.
