- Supporting our coaches through continuous and ongoing quality support (communication, site visits, equipment delivery, etc.) to ensure that our programs have everything they need to provide our poet-athletes with the best experience possible
- Leading and helping plan several program events including game days, poetry slams, championships, family festivals, service days, professional soccer matches, workshops, etc.
- In the off-seasons of winter and summer, providing front-line coaching (writing and/or soccer) and leading programs
- Communication: You are clear, precise, and compassionate in all forms of communication. You speak clearly on behalf of the organization and advocate for/with community members, especially our coaches, poet-athletes, and families. When communicating with others, you share context and ask questions to understand others' perspectives.
- Relationship Building: You value relationships in all you do. You lead by example with your trustworthiness and authentic engagement. You are genuine and hold yourself accountable for your words and actions. You can successfully build authentic relationships across lines of difference, such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, ability, gender identity, citizenship status, or other identities. You always follow through on commitments.
- Project Coordination: You stay on top of multiple projects, plan backwards, overcome obstacles that arise, identify and involve stakeholders appropriately, and use resources wisely. You manage a high volume of work with efficiency. You use a system for keeping tasks from slipping through the cracks. You are able to juggle competing demands and prioritize without sacrificing quality. You have extreme attention to detail where you notice and fix errors. This doesn't mean you can't make mistakes, this means that you acknowledge mistakes and turn them into learning opportunities. Lastly, you have a strong sense of ownership and resilience. You plan ahead and find alternative paths, when needed, to get to the finish line. You are not defeated by setbacks and rejections. You maintain a high bar even when things are hectic.
- Commitment to Social Justice and Racial Equity: You recognize the role of race, gender, and other identities in shaping disparities. You are driven to improve conditions, and proactively learn about diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. You are also committed to self-awareness and emotional intelligence. You are able to reflect on and describe the impact of one's own identities—and those of others—in a given situation, decision, or process.
- In addition to the areas above, you must also be able to travel to all parts of the city, every day. While a vehicle is encouraged, it is not a requirement if you are confident in your ability to travel to all parts of the city via other methods.
- The position is full-time and will be required to work in our headquarters office in DC at least 4 days per week. In order to work with our programs during afterschool hours, candidates must be available to work until 6pm each day.
- This position requires a few planned late weeknight and weekend commitments. All members of the DC SCORES staff, all the way up to the Executive Director, attend major program events (~6/year, typically on evenings or Saturdays) and staff Thursday afternoon game days (3:30-6 pm) during our fall and spring seasons.
