    About Campus Without Walls

Success in school is too often determined by a student's zip code – where they live and the school to which they are assigned. Campus Without Walls (CWW) leverages the power of All-Star Teachers and technology to remove structural barriers that limit access to a high-quality education. CWW connects classrooms, educators, and students to each other and a broader education ecosystem so that zip codes and school assignments no longer limit a student's educational opportunity.

This innovative program started in 2020 as a collaborative initiative developed by several nonprofit leaders at , the Rennie Center for Educational Research and Policy, Boston Opportunity Agenda, and Boston Public Schools. Through CWW, students can take courses taught by All-Star Lead Teachers across the state, for course credit. Teacher Fellows can also partner with these All-Stars for curriculum, coaching, and mentoring. In its first three years of operations, CWW has worked with teachers from a consortium of 50 district, charter, parochial, and private schools across Massachusetts reaching approximately 1,500 students a year

CWW is now ready for is next exciting phase. By July 2024, CWW will be fully established as an independent 501c3 nonprofit organization The co-founders are now seeking a dynamic leader who can take Campus Without Walls from a promising model to a statewide organization. The long-term goal is for CWW to become fully embedded in school districts across the state of Massachusetts, and then to replicate the model in other states across the country.

The organization currently has a budget of $1M, and major past and present supporters include the New Schools Venture Fund, The Boston Foundation, Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, and the Redstone Family Foundation.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead with vision, developing work plans aligned with CWW's current 3-year strategic plan and formulating a longer-term vision for CWW's continued integration into the Massachusetts K-12 system and future expansion to other locations

    • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with foundations and individual donors

    • Build partnerships with K-12 schools and districts, higher education partners, and state agencies, advocating for the value of the CWW model for students and educators

    • Communicate the value of CWW's model and advocate on related policy issues

    • Develop the strategy for growing CWW's staff team and lead recruitment, hiring, training, and retention activities

    • Oversee CWW's budgeting, financial management, and operational needs, including contracting with appropriate vendors

    Location

CWW currently operates as a primarily remote organization, with periodic opportunities for in-person work in its Norwood, MA office. The Executive Director will need to travel across Massachusetts for meetings and networking with a wide range of school, district, and state partners. As such, they will need to be based in Massachusetts or in reasonable commuting distance. Additional out-of-state travel will occasionally be necessary for advocacy, fundraising, and participation in conferences.
