Description
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, OFFICE OF PHILANTHROPIC PARTNERSHIPS (OPP), _Resource Development_, to manage the OPP and assume responsibility for the overall leadership and direction of MIT's cause-based major and principal gift fundraising efforts, with a special focus on domestic and international non-alumni friends and corporations. Will work closely with the executive directors of the Office of Individual Giving and Office of Foundation Relations to maintain a pipeline of solicitation activity that will reach MIT's annual giving goal.
Job Requirements
- REQUIRED_: bachelor's degree; ten years' direct fundraising experience, including soliciting and closing principal gifts; four years' experience supervising staff, setting goals, and managing performance and budgets; experience in complex, highly-matrixed organizations; experience with international and cause-based fundraising; strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills (written, verbal, and listing); proven success managing, motivating, and leading teams and building and sustaining a collegial work environment that advances diversity and inclusion, celebrates achievements, and encourages teamwork; strategic approach to change; support for MIT's commitment to advancement and diversity, equity, and inclusion; proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Zoom; and a record of accomplishment in a position requiring independent planning and efficient utilization of time and personnel resources. Must be able to influence peers toward a common vision/goal; use organizational relationships and dynamics to achieve objectives; deal effectively with potentially large benefactors and fairly represent the interests of MIT and the donors to the other party; work with faculty, senior officers, and staff across MIT; and represent and advance the Institute's fundraising agenda with top donors and prospects.
_PREFERRED_:
advanced degree, experience at a higher education organization, sound decision-making skills, and comfort with complex scientific material. Job # **Must be able and willing to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time and work occasional evenings and weekends.
