- Perform a variety of administrative functions involving contact with the Child Nutrition Director, SMI Consultant, Cafeteria Managers, Cafeteria Assistants, students, parents, and other LCPS administrators to provide administrative positive support and leadership.
- Trains a new manager when first in the new managerial role on computer work, paperwork, and leadership within the cafeteria team.
- Must acquire and sustain the Serv- Safe or Safe Plate Certification throughout the time period of employment.
- Must be a member of the School Nutrition Association and sustain membership throughout the time period of employment.
- Must attend one local School Nutrition Association Meeting per school year.
- Assist in maintaining the Primero Edge DataBase, including adding, transferring, and withdrawing students as necessary; updating student information; reviewing and managing student accounts and histories information; assisting managers with problems or training.
- Responsible for putting in Claims when the School Nutrition Bookkeeper is absent.
- When not training managers with on the job training, assistance will be needed at other schools when there is a need due to absences in school cafeterias.
- Work with the Child Director and Supervisor to develop Menus for the new school year.
- Type up menus and production records in a timely manner for the managers.
- Keep MSDS Chemical Data Notebook up to date throughout the school year and refresh it during the summer.
- Keep Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Plan updated each school year while also checking off the manager's paperwork as they turn it in to get checked off each month. If there are any changes to the plan throughout the year, updates will need to be discussed with managers.
- Travel to school sites to provide technical assistance to managers for extra support and fill in when there is a need for assistance in a managerial role due to managers absence.
- Assist Director in emergency situations
- Attend seminars, conferences, workshops, etc. to maintain knowledge of the food service program.
- Help ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards of sanitation are met.
- Provide training with new employees through orientation day and using videos along with getting the new employees started with paperwork, etc.
- Assist with special events and projects as assigned or requested.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality of all LCPS information both in the Child Nutrition office , out in the school cafeterias, and out in public.
- Perform other work related work as required.
- Will become familiar with book keeper's duties and will serve as a backup in extreme circumstances.
- Being a team player when someone is out in the office, the willingness to help out where needed is there as well.
- Ability to promote good relationships internally and with the public.
- Associates Degree in Food Service or Management and /or 5 years in a Food Related Experience preferably in a Cafeteria Manager's position.
- Good oral and written Skills
- Ability to use sound judgment in resolving problems
- Ability to plan and organize work activities
- Knowledge of Computer programs- Microsoft Word, excel, power point, and publisher.
- A good deal of knowledge of Excel and has had experience with this computer program.
- Maintain an acceptable attendance record and be punctual.
- Must attend one School Nutrition Association Meeting each school year.
- Must maintain School Nutrition Association membership for the life of employment with Lenoir County Public Schools.

Job Description
General Statement of Job:
Under the supervision of the Child Nutrition Director, performs technical and managerial work to provide leadership and ensure that Child Nutrition meets its mission and goals. Work involves setting protocol, providing training, monitoring performance of site-based managers and support personnel. This position also specifically entails training new cafeteria managers upon start date, getting the cafeteria managers to a point of having the knowledge to fulfill their job requirements while also providing on the job training while also stressing good rapport with administration, students, and staff.
