    Risk Management Safety Intern - Columbus, United States - Surge Staffing

    Description

    Overview: We're seeking a motivated Risk Management Intern to join our team and assist the Risk Management department with administrative and risk management-related tasks. This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in risk management, spanning across industries and responding to client requests. The position is full-time (Monday - Friday) On-Site at our HQ office in Columbus, Ohio.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Assist employees with filling out unemployment claims and workers' compensation paperwork.
    2. Conduct periodic reviews of safety administrative procedures to assess effectiveness and recommend improvements.
    3. Investigate safety or loss-related incidents, preparing detailed reports on findings.
    4. Undertake special projects as directed by workers' compensation and safety managers.
    5. Aid in the development and implementation of safety training programs for all associates.
    6. Collaborate with the management team to ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
    7. Review reported incidents and ensure timely entry, follow-up, and completion of all cases.
    8. Take on additional tasks or projects as assigned by management.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    1. Assist in processing workers' compensation claims and verifying safety compliance.
    2. Conduct safety audits and inspections as required.
    3. Collaborate with HR on safety training initiatives and programs.
    4. Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents and actions taken.
    5. Support the implementation of safety policies and procedures.

    Qualifications:

    1. At least a Junior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, HR, or a related field.
    2. Must have a "people-first" attitude and thrive in a diverse environment.
    3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    4. Exceptional interpersonal and customer service abilities.
    5. Outstanding organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
    6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    7. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
    8. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and good judgment.
    9. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
