    Organizational Unit:

    UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media aims to equip students to initiate meaningful dialogues locally, nationally, and globally, emphasizing the pivotal role of communication in nurturing democracy.

    The school provides undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, alongside professional development initiatives. Its student body comprises nearly 1,000 undergraduates, 125 graduate students, and professionals in continuing education.

    An Adjunct Instructor, part-time, will lead courses at the Hussman School of Journalism and Media.

    Teaching requirements vary per semester based on curriculum, programs, and subject areas. Visit the website for current teaching needs.
    Adjunct Instructors undertake live, online, synchronous, and asynchronous teaching, following a standard syllabus and utilizing pre-existing teaching materials for each course.

    • Engage students effectively in class discussions, leveraging personal expertise to link new knowledge to real-world scenarios.
    • Ensure prompt grading in line with university guidelines.
    • Support student progress by setting regular office hours, addressing student queries, and concerns promptly.

    Experience Requirements:

    Instructors can qualify based on professional experience or a blend of education and experience in lieu of a terminal degree in the relevant field.

    Proficiency in writing and providing feedback on written assignments is essential.


    Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:
    • Extensive professional or teaching background directly relevant to the course content.
    • Prior experience in higher education instruction.
