    Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

Classes provide rigorous and evidence-based content, and give students the opportunity to explore theory, learn intervention skills and engage in challenging dialogue with colleagues.


Position Summary


The Training Specialist will report to the Director and will be responsible for development and delivery of curricula and instructional programs (both in person, classroom and in an online environment) with a focus on topics relevant to child welfare and human services.


This position will assist in project work as needed that includes facilitation of large and small groups, writing for publications and implementation support.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy.

UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

If business needs change, an individual employee's designation may be adjusted with a required minimum of ten (10) business days' notice unless employee conduct or safety issues necessitate otherwise at the discretion of management.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and training (in person and online)
  • Ability to travel to regional training sites is required
  • Ability to work autonomously and under broad direction with considerable latitude is expected

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

  • Master's in Social Work or related field preferred
  • Familiarity with child welfare and other human services systems in North Carolina
  • Comfortable with delivering training in person and online using a variety of platforms
  • Experience in academic research and writing (publications, online etc.)
  • Experience facilitating large group processes and coaching for practice improvement
  • Microsoft office, adobe creative suite, articulate storyline
