    The VR Shell team is looking for a Software Engineer with strong technical expertise in the domain of real-time 3D interactivity, either in games or other interactive 3D software, and someone who is passionate about advancing the boundaries of input in AR/VR/MR.

    The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer with a background in architecting and building spatial user interfaces, or working with novel input and controls, who flourishes working in a rapidly evolving and challenging technology space.

    Passionate about sharing your unique experience you continuously improve both the software systems you encounter as well as the engineers and partners you collaborate with.

    This position will afford you the opportunity to explore the meaning and implementation of future input modalities in spatial computing by taking a lead role in the software arm of an interdisciplinary front-end team (design, user research, software), with a heavy focus on end user experience.

    You will work across reality labs with full-stack hardware, software, and design teams experimenting and productionizing new input devices and emerging research technologies in AR/VR/MR.

    Required Skills:

    Software Engineer, Interaction - Reality Labs Responsibilities:
    Architect efficient and reusable systems that drive complex AR/VR/MR applications

    Lead collaboration with multi-functional teams to achieve compelling, polished user experiences

    Prototyping new interactions and user experiences with an eye toward intuitive usability and feel

    Influence design, drive engineering implementation and enhance the quality of new and existing product areas

    Partner with specialized RL engineering teams to understand, analyze and plan integration of early stage technologies that will power the future of AR/VR/MR interaction for users

    Utilize your specialized expertise to mentor, educate and up level engineers you collaborate with across teams

    Thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments


    Minimum Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

    6+ years experience as an engineer shipping user-facing features on games or other real-time 3D products

    Demonstrated engineering experience directly contributing to input, interaction or gameplay systems.

    Experience with C++, C# and/or Java programming

    Demonstrated experience interfacing with other internal and external teams to incorporate their innovations and vice versa


    Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience architecting efficient real-time interaction systems and/or complex game mechanics

    Experience leveraging physical and spatial input modalities ( Motion based, Eye tracking, Hand tracking, Body tracking )

    Strong understanding of 3D math, linear algebra and physics

    Experience working with game engines ( Unity 3D, Unreal, Godot, etc. )

    End to end understanding of real-time engine components ( Rendering, Collision, Physics, Input Processing, Audio, Animation, etc. )

    Experience optimizing application performance based on resource utilization ( CPU, GPU, Memory, Cache etc. ) on constrained performance platforms ( Mobile, Console, Embedded )

    Experience with virtual reality (Rift, Quest, VIVE, Gear VR, etc. )

    Experience with augmented reality ( HoloLens, Magic Leap, ARKit, ARCore etc. )

    Experience creating software for mobile platforms ( Android, iOS )


    Public Compensation:
    $177,008/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
