    As a key member of the Supply Chain Leadership Team, the Sr. Manager, Purchasing & Planning will oversee planning and purchasing functions for customer site installation requirements to provide effective and efficient materials flow from suppliers through manufacturing operations to

    Customer Installation Group (CIG) teams at customer sites. The Sr. Manager, Purchasing & Planning will support materials operations in the company's Joint Venture (JV) Operations group in Gumi, Korea. Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Materials, the Sr. Manager, Purchasing & Planning will be the key driver for materials management strategy and operational execution in support of CIG and the JV Korea Operation.

    Location: This position will be based in Newark, Delaware.

    Role and Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises the Install Materials planning and procurement functions to support the company's installation organization in a matrix management environment across multiple sites globally.
  • Coordinates and optimizes materials operations across planning and purchasing through materials management strategic programs, business processes and organizational capability development that increase effectiveness, efficiency and teamwork across the group. Supervises planners and buyers working through Oracle MRP to quickly adjust material flows to optimize operations execution following scheduling or material requirement changes.
  • Utilizes a global understanding of materials planning and purchasing management's critical role in operations and teams with Logistics, Warehouse, Commodity Management, Production Scheduling, Manufacturing, and Customer Installations Group (CIG) Supply Chain, Project Management and Engineering to facilitate comprehensive order to delivery process design into all areas of materials conveyance.
  • Supervises Materials team member execution of responsibilities in the Install Change Implementation and the Install Site Date Change Approval Teams to ensure responsive review, analysis, approval decision and communication of risks and action plans to meet CIG needs.
  • Implements an aggressive and systematic inventory management program for Installation inventory to achieve improved and sustainable material availability and inventory efficiency. Works with CIG to quickly reuse, repurpose or remove excess inventory stranded by site bill of material changes and cancellations. Implements a recurring process to address excess inventory.
  • Leads or supports initiatives to support materials and logistics efficiency improvements to include supplier part barcode, 3PL drop ship, customer site excess material returns, supplier lead time reduction, supplier material availability and others to be initiated.
  • Assists the Global Materials Senior Director to supervise JV Korea planners and buyers in the execution of their roles to meet schedule requirements efficiently and effectively. Provides technical training, guidance and general assistance in the areas of MRP, material flow, inventory control and supplier management.
  • Provides leadership to reports, instilling motivation, discipline, technical development, support and mentorship. Develops employees through employee feedback, employee performance reviews, and career development plans. Guides and coaches leaders to assume greater responsibilities, take on increased challenges and to develop subordinate leaders to drive group capability and productivity.

    • Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's undergraduate degree. A degree in Operations Management, Engineering or Supply Chain is preferred. APICS, CSCP, or CPIM certification is a plus.
  • 10 years of combined experience in Purchasing and Planning. Oracle ERP and Agile PLM experience is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience as a buyer or Purchasing Manager working in a purchasing MRP system
  • 4+ years of management experience in Purchasing or Planning.
  • Successful experience managerial experience operating in a matrix management environment
  • Business experience in high technology, low volume / high mix industry preferred
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement policy and process in Materials Management
  • Demonstrated bias for action and implementation
  • Strong motivation and mentoring skills
