Estimated Hours:
Monday - Friday (8a - 4:30p) Minimal Travel Required

***The Cardiac and Vascular Sonographer works under limited supervision to provide advanced technical skills in the performance of non-invasive tests used in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. Responsibilities include performing a full range of non-invasive cardiac and vascular ultrasound tests to include Venous Insufficiency studies, Upper/Lower Arterial Duplex, Upper/Lower Venous Duplex, AV Fistula/Graft, Extracranial Carotid Duplex, Abdominal Aorta (AAA), Renal/Mesenteric Arterial Duplex and related duties in patient care. Perform various (basic and advanced) cardiac ultrasound examinations under direction of staff Cardiologist. Utilizes all Ultrasound techniques, including gray scale imaging, color and spectral Doppler, 3D, and strain imaging.

The Cardiac/Vascular Sonographer must work in a manner that places emphasis on quality patient care and customer service.

This position must work collaboratively with all clinic staff, fostering an environment which promotes excellent patient care, comfort and trust.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates ultrasound equipment for data acquisition, documentation of images and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images.
  • Prepares a summary of technical findings for interpretation by vascular surgeon.
  • Provides preliminary technical interpretations to ordering physician(s).
  • Practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity.
  • Practices safety measures in Environment of Care.
  • Assists the Technical Manager/Director with the maintenance of laboratory accreditation through standardized protocols.
  • Maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times
  • Is selfmotivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of vascular disease and new procedures, as they evolve.
  • Adheres to internal policies and reporting structure

Education & Experience:

Must meet one of the three following educational/experience requirements plus current BLS certification:


Licensure:


  • Certified as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International or Vascular Sonography (VS) by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • Cardiac and Vascular Registries are required

Physical Requirements:


  • Moderate physical effort may be required such as walking, performing CPR, standing and lifting materials, equipment, objects, and/or patients.
  • Potential lifting over 50 lbs. with assistance.
  • Vision, hearing, talking, and sense of touch must be adequate to quickly and accurately perform tasks such as reading small print, reading from monitoring equipment, defining details, sending and receiving clear and accurate oral communication.
  • Frequent periods of concentrated or focused attention will be needed to interpret visual, auditory, and sensory input.
  • Alertness and careful attention to detail will be required to avoid injury.
