    Description

    Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Stewardship Events, the Stewardship Events Coordinator facilitates and/or assists with the logistical execution of Stewardship Events including but not limited to: Salk Science and Music, Symphony At Salk, Board of Trustees meetings and dinners, Science and Justice, and other events as needed.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Handles the full range of event logistics including creation of floor plans, catering, rentals, dcor, communications and planning timelines.
    • Acts as a liaison with other Salk departments in the execution of stewardship events including Communications, Development, Finance, Salk Events, Facilities, and Security.
    • Coordinates planning meetings for assigned events, including scheduling meetings, reserving rooms, requesting refreshments, preparing agendas, and recording and distributing meeting minutes.
    • Serves on the Engagement and Wellbeing initiative and takes on most event related coordination for the Stewardship team.
    • Manages relationships with vendors related to events according to Salk Institute policies.
    • Assists with External Relations events and other projects as needed.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Required:
    • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, and minimum 1-2 years of experience in special event coordination, with ability to prioritize daily operations and projects in order to meet rigid deadlines, ensure smooth workflow and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, often working under pressure and with frequent interruptions while exhibiting extreme attention to detail and always maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
    Preferred:
    • 3-5 years of experience in special event coordination.
    • Prior experience in a larger non-profit organization, preferably working on fast-paced teams with demonstrated knowledge in the fundraising activities including prospect identification, qualification, cultivation, gift solicitation, stewardship and donor recognition.
    • Prior experience in hosting events for high-net-worth individuals providing a high level of customer service.

    The expected pay range for this position is $22.00-$28.00 per hour. Salk Institute provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the institute reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
