    KIPP Memphis Public Schools is part of KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program), a national network of tuition-free, open-enrollment, public schools that are successful in helping students from educationally underserved communities develop the knowledge, skills, character, and habits needed to succeed in college and the competitive world beyond. There are currently 270 KIPP schools across the nation serving nearly 100,000 students. Founded in 2002, KIPP Memphis serves over 1,800 K-12 students in our five North Memphis schools and almost 900 alumni on their journeys to-and-through college with our KIPP Forward Program.     The Attendance Clerk reports to the Principal and supports the Office Manager in ensuring that attendance data is tracked accurately in KIPP Memphis systems.

    Job Responsibilities Include:

    • Requests student transcripts.
    • Issues absence admit and tardy slips.
    • Leads the Attendance team.
    • Reconciles student added and dropped on a monthly basis.
    • Monitors and records student attendance daily.
    • Contacts parent/guardians by phone or letter to verify absences within 3 days of the absence.
    • Maintains logs and other documentation verifying absences.
    • Makes home visits to check on absent students.
    • Ensures that attendance for tardy students is recorded.
    • Enters attendance, grades and other data into a computerized attendance system, edits, corrects, verifies accuracy and compiles reports of enrollment/attendance.
    • Prepares required reports and reviews for accuracy prior to submission.
    • Notifies attendance team when student(s) have excessive problems.
    • Makes referrals to the school nurse as necessary.
    • Maintains accurate records in accordance with the law, to include obtaining teachers' signatures on attendance sheets and scan sheets.
    • Interprets routine policies and procedures to staff, students and the public.
    • Prepares information for referral to the School Attendance Review Board.
    • Stays current on changes in statutory law by attending workshops and conferences.
    • Compiles, posts, summarizes and maintains demographic data and test scores and other statistical data for students.
    • Assists with general functions of the office including reception, answering the phone, responding to parent concerns.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    Requirements:

    EDUCATION:

    • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree, OR two (2) years of college (minimum of 48 semester hours), OR a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment Test and high school diploma required
    • One or more years of administrative experience
    • Excellent customer service skills, including an outwardly friendly demeanor
    • Highly organized including evidence of strong follow-through skills
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to learn quickly, and meticulous attention to detail
    • Comfortable interacting with the general public and working closely with teachers, staff, administrators, and other stakeholders
    • Open to feedback and flexible with new and changing situations
    • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills (both written and verbal)
    • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and G Suite for Education
    • Experience with PowerSchool

    Additional information

    Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience, degree attainment, and credentials. A competitive benefits package will also be offered.

    ADA Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods standing and actively monitoring student behavior while teaching
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
    • Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child
    • Must be able to facilitate classroom transitions by walking through hallways and up and down stairs with students
