Description

Under the supervision of the Social Services Manager, the
INTAKE ASSISTANT (part-time) position is responsible for overseeing the activities of the Social Services reception desk and duties relating to new client intake for the Social Services Division of the Aging Services Department.

Holds responsibility for the intake of client information, scheduling of appointments, and carrying out general clerical duties and receptionist-based work.

Addresses the basic needs of clients and provides information and referral resources for comprehensive care.

Responds to and interacts with residents, employees, and outside agencies in a courteous, professional manner to provide excellent customer service to clients seeking assistance.

This position works closely with the Social Services Manager, Aging Services staff, and Office of Community Health.

Schedule is flexible, Monday
  • Friday 8:30AM4:30PM.

REQUIRED Education/Experience/Skills:


  • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent required.
  • Complete certification as a Medicare Counselor through Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) and attend ongoing trainings as required.
  • Complete certification as an Energy Service Technician through Community Economic Development Association (CEDA) and attend ongoing trainings as required.
  • Ability to learn division software programs such as Mon Ami and MySeniorCenter.

DESIRED Education/Experience/Skills:


  • Associate's degree in human services or related field preferred.
  • One year of experience in receptionistrelated work preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and/or weekends as needed.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
