    Electric Hydrogen s mission is to make molecules to decarbonize our world Our outstanding people are our most important asset and will allow us to deliver hydrogen from renewable electrolysis for heavy industry, at prices below fossil fuels.

    We are looking for a Payroll and Benefits Manager to join our Finance team. You will ensure our most important asset, our people, are compensated as expected and following the law.

    You will be the primary resource responsible for daily payroll and benefits activities, as outlined below and be the face of the payroll team in our new Devens facility.

    You will work onsite and be based at our San Carlos, CA office and will report into the Manager of Finance Operations.

    Role and Responsibilities
    Payroll Processing & Management

    Process payroll following set pay schedules, employee offer letters, other compensation agreements, and employment dates
    Work with Leave Administrator, TILT, to ensure accurate pay for employees On Leave
    Set up garnishments and mandatory insurance coverage.
    Ensure compliance with all Federal, state, and local taxing and labor authorities.

    Benefits Management


    Work with our benefits broker and carriers to ensure successful employee enrollment and off-boarding and audit invoices to ensure accurate billing.

    Maintain compliance with employee withholdings and corporate contributions to 401k accounts and the FSA/HSA Programs; reconcile plans monthly to ensure accuracy.

    Betterment 401k System Administration
    Lead the Annual 401k Audit and assist Broker with Annual Benefits Open Enrollment.

    Government Tax and Compliance

    Register for and maintain state and local payroll-related accounts.
    Manage year-end activities, such as ACA Reporting and W2 distribution.
    Pull wage reports for Monthly Worker's Comp reporting and lead annual audit.

    Rippling System Administration

    Manage the Payroll, Time Off, and Time and Attendance modules in Rippling

    Inbox Management/ Payroll & Benefits Ticket processing

    Respond to 3rd party requests for employment verification
    Respond to requests for information related to state programs such as unemployment insurance and paid leave

    Qualifications
    5+ years of payroll experience in a multi-state setting including new state registration, reporting, and closing accounts. Experience with California and Massachusetts payroll laws
    5+ years of experience with benefits administration, including eligibility requirements, open enrollment processes, and navigating the intricacies of qualifying life events
    Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state regulations, filing, and compliance requirements affecting employee pay and benefits, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, SECTION 125, Worker's Compensation, Medicare, Social Security, and DOL requirements
    Experience with Rippling and Betterment.
    Have relevant certifications such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS),
    Experience with Audits, such as Annual Financial Audits and Worker's Compensation Audits
    Experience with leave management and coordination with state and private insurance

    $117,000 - $147,750 USD

    Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, as well as relevant education or training and experience.

    Base salary is just one part of Electric Hydrogens total rewards package. We feel strongly that our team should not have to worry about having quality healthcare.

    In addition to the base salary offered, the hired applicant may receive:
