- Assure financial statements are prepared accurately and timely for management, board, and grant submissions.
- Audit Coordination:
- Coordinate the annual financial and 401k audit.
- Oversee Accounting's role in the BCCS and CPRIT government audits.
- Submit 990 information and review for accuracy/reasonableness, along with other regulatory reports required.
- Internal Controls:
- Ensure adequate internal controls are in place and substantiates that all documentation is approved and available for audit testing.
- Systems and Process Improvement:
- Recommend and implement relevant changes in financial systems, human resources, fundraising, and other internal processes to improve efficiency.
- Budgeting and Financial Planning:
- Coordinate the annual budgeting and planning process with the CFO, Executive, and Leadership teams, and the accounting team.
- Administer and review all financial plans in the accounting system as appropriate.
- Cash Flow Management:
- Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the CFO.
- Continuously collaborate with leaders to assess their departmental operations.
- Leadership and Team Development:
- Provide leadership to staff at all levels.
- Onboard, train, and develop team members in their roles and within departmental and organizational processes and systems.
- Monthly Closing Process:
- Participate in all aspects of the monthly closing process, including analyzing key accounts, consolidating multiple business segments with proper eliminations, and preparing journal entries and P&Ls.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role, preferably in the non-profit sector.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience with audit coordination and regulatory compliance.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
