- Assist in preparation and/or review financial statements and perform an initial review of SEC and statutory filings.
- Assist with audits and provide support as necessary.
- Review quarterly tax calculations prepared externally.
- Assist in year-end tax reporting.
- Prepare and review quarterly Board reports.
- Ability to record and analyze financial results and explain to team and management.
- Provide oversight and guidance to other team members.
- Effectively manage responsibilities to achieve timely and thorough completion.
- Performs other job-related duties and projects as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- 5-8 years of financial reporting experience with SEC filings
- 5+ years of life insurance financial reporting experience
- Strong Excel skills (V-lookups, Pivot Tables, etc.).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Prefer investment experience.
- CPA designation a plus.
- Ability to meet critical business deadlines.
- Ability to work with the actuarial and accounting functions to understand various, important concepts that are unique to the insurance industry.
- Ability to act with a sense of urgency in order to drive results in a demanding business environment.
- Ability to address issues/concerns in a professional manner.
- Ability to collaborate and interact effectively with internal/external stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate effectively with broad level of finance and operational teams.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of internal controls and SOX compliance.
- Skill in analytical and practical problem-solving skills with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of SOX, GAAP and statutory accounting principles.
- Knowledge of current SEC rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of insurance products.

Summary: Citizens, Inc. is seeking a Financial Reporting Manager to join the Finance team. The position will be responsible for preparing and reviewing quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reporting in accordance with GAAP, statutory and SEC requirements. The position is in Austin, Texas in the Domain and will report to the Vice President of Financial Reporting.
