    Design Engineer

    (Columbus, NE or Omaha, NE)

    Zelle is searching for an industrious entry level engineer with keen interest in steel design to join our design team. This agricultural building system company is a family orientated and locally owned company that prides itself on providing quality service and dedication to our customers.     RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Structural design of steel buildings applying established engineering practices, model building codes, and company standards
    • Design projects large and small, including hangars, schools, gymnasiums, retail centers, churches, sports arenas, and manufacturing facilities throughout the United States, Canada, and Central America
    • Work in a team environment with estimating, sales, and drafting to define, clarify, and process projects to meet customers' needs on individual projects
    • Review project plans, specifications and building code requirements
    • Convey design information to drafting, using written and verbal communication
    • Assist sales, project managers, architects, and builders to determine project requirements and proper utilization of building systems to meet customer needs
    • Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with design
    • Work directly under licensed engineers toward licensure

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Entry Level

    • B. S. Degree (Civil, Architectural or Structural Engineering)
    • 0 to 2 years of experience in low rise building design
    • EIT certification or willing to sit for the exam
    • Familiarity with AISC specifications
    • Familiarity with AISI specifications, ASCE-7 standard, and model building codes is a plus
    • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written

    Senior Level

    • B. S. Degree (Civil, Architectural or Structural Engineering)
    • 5+ years of experience in low rise metal building design
    • P. E. Registration
    • Proficiency with AISC, AISI, ASCE 7, and model building codes
    • Experience with MBS, RISA, & Microsoft office
    • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
