    Description

    Saint Johns Resort, a renowned catering and events resort dedicated to delivering exceptional culinary experiences and services. We specialize in crafting bespoke menus for various events, ranging from weddings and corporate gatherings to private dinners and galas. Our team is committed to excellence in both taste and presentation, ensuring that every event is memorable and enjoyable for our clients and their guests. A passion for culinary arts, drive to evolve and 'push the envelope', formal culinary education (or equivalent work experience), and a minimum of two years' experience as a chef/manager in an AAA Four Diamond environment are preferred. Candidates also must be self-motivated and work well in a structured high volume family-type team environment.

    The kitchen has 3 Rational combi-therm ovens, a flat top griddle, low-boy convection oven, 48" 160k BTU gas grill, fryer, kettles, sous-vide immersion circulators, Cryovac machine, and many other 'toys' to play with. We host 270 wedding annual, several galas, and hundreds of Baby, Bridal showers and special events

    Job Description:

    We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic Banquet team. As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with our Banquets Chef to oversee kitchen operations, manage food preparation, and maintain high standards of quality and consistency. You will have the opportunity to showcase your culinary creativity while leading a team of passionate cooks and kitchen staff.

    Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Banquet Chef to develop innovative menus tailored to our clients' preferences and dietary requirements
  • Oversee food preparation, ensuring that dishes are prepared according to established recipes and standards of presentation
  • Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to promote skill development and teamwork
  • Monitor inventory levels and order supplies to maintain sufficient stock of ingredients and kitchen supplies
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, conducting regular inspections and implementing corrective measures as needed
  • Assist in planning and coordinating catering events, working closely with event planners and clients to ensure seamless execution
  • Participate in menu tastings and client meetings, offering expertise and guidance to enhance the overall dining experience
    Qualifications:
  • Proven experience working as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within the hospitality industry
  • Culinary degree or equivalent certification from a recognized culinary institution
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency in menu planning, recipe development, and food costing
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by event schedules
  • Creative flair and passion for culinary arts
