Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Sous Chef, reporting to the Executive Sous Chef and/or the Executive Chef, is responsible for training employees, planning and delivering meals, and ensuring food quality. The Sous Chef oversees food preparation for meals, functions, and events, working closely with the Executive Chef. Additionally, they supervise kitchen staff and manage the Dining function when the Executive Sous Chef is unavailable.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of Culinary School or recognized apprentice program, valid Food Handler's Card, 2 years of kitchen experience preferred, SERVSAFE certification required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Experience in food production, menu planning, and nutrition principles; ability to supervise, ensure sanitary standards, and manage inventory; capable of lifting 50 pounds safely
Hours of Employment
The Dining Department operates 7 days a week, 14 hours a day. Employees work varied shifts as scheduled.
