    The Recruiting Manager, University Relations Position at Marriott International

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Recruiting Manager, University Relations collaborates with the Sr. Manager to comprehend the company's entry-level management recruitment and staffing requirements. This role, which can be done remotely, involves establishing and nurturing relationships with career centers and students at various colleges and universities to identify, evaluate, and provide the most suitable candidates for entry-level University Program positions. The Recruiting Manager also partners with their Sr. Manager to ensure the implementation of appropriate recruiting activities at key academic institutions each semester and contributes to the formation of a cadre to support recruitment initiatives. Candidates residing in Denver, Dallas, or Houston are preferred, and travel is an essential component of this role.

    EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

    Business/Functional Results
    • Collaborates with the Sr. Manager to assess the company's recruitment needs and develop effective strategies and programs to attract top talent.
    • Focuses on enhancing the capabilities of the field cadre to achieve recruitment excellence and enhance brand loyalty to Marriott.
    • Cultivates resources for diverse candidates to support the company's Diversity & Inclusion objectives.
    • Plans and executes recruitment events at prominent colleges and universities in collaboration with the Sr. Manager.
    • Conducts brand and company presentations for students to educate them about the organization's heritage, values, and available opportunities.
    Managing Execution
    • Coordinates and hosts recruitment events at key colleges and universities with the support of field cadre and Sr. Managers.
    • Identifies, sources, and evaluates potential candidates using the 'On Campus Recruiting' process, conducts interviews, and produces a list of recommended candidates.
    • Teams up with Marriott's on-campus advocate to boost attendance at recruitment events and generate interest in Marriott brands.
    • Provides training, when needed, on interviewing and assessment techniques.
    • Processes applications and candidates through the applicant tracking system in compliance with policies.
    • Generates recruitment activity reports as requested by the Sr. Manager.
    • Collaborates with the Sr. Manager to actively oversee all activities related to college requisitions.
    • Monitors key recruitment metrics to assess the effectiveness of current recruiting programs and makes adjustments as necessary, especially during the active recruitment phase.
    • Offers feedback to the Sr. Manager on the efficacy of recruitment materials and suggests any essential modifications or enhancements.
    • Stays updated on industry and company trends to engage in meaningful discussions with students.
    Leadership
    • Demonstrates leadership in hospitality, provides outstanding customer service, and fosters a positive environment for students.
    • Offers career guidance when appropriate.
    • Engages with candidates to gather feedback on recruitment processes, addresses issues or complaints effectively, and involves the Sr. Manager when needed.
    • Establishes guidelines to clarify expectations and boundaries for cadre members.
    • Ensures that cadre members receive continuous training and comprehend the expectations of the University Relations team.
    • Observes the interviewing practices of cadre members, provides individual feedback, and continuously strives to enhance assessment performance.
    Financial Management
    • Is knowledgeable about Human Resources and corporate financial targets; manages budgets in alignment with these objectives.
    • Works with the Sr. Manager to oversee the recruitment activities of cadre members, ensuring an adequate candidate pool while minimizing travel expenses.
    • Evaluates the cost-effectiveness of all recruitment programs and events in collaboration with the Sr. Manager.
    Other
    • Executes any other relevant duties.
    • Travel is required - approximately 40% and is subject to university schedules.

    CANDIDATE PROFILE - KEY TALENTS AND EXPERIENCE DESIRED

    Experience and Skills
    • Minimum of two years of managerial experience.
    • Five or more years of hospitality experience is preferable.
    • Capability to establish and maintain relationships with colleagues, clients, suppliers, etc.
    • Ability to influence and provide guidance as necessary.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in effective decision-making and problem-solving.
    • Aptitude for working independently from home and driving business outcomes and recruitment efforts.
    • Strong relationship-building skills are essential.
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
    • Excellent presentation skills are required.
    • Exceptional organizational capabilities and the capacity to manage multiple priorities are crucial.
    • Proficiency in navigating various technical platforms, websites, and social media channels.
    Education or Certification
    • Associate's degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field or
    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Certification as a trainer; TCII certification preferred.
    • Graduation from the Voyage Program is advantageous but not obligatory.
