    NAMI Alabama is a small non-profit whose mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals who live with mental illness and for their families by promoting the availability of effective services and resources, through education, support and advocacy.

    Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Education and Programs Coordinator works to advance NAMI Alabama's mission by supporting the organization's program implementation, including education and support groups.

    While programs at NAMI Alabama are facilitated by volunteers, the Family Programs Coordinator oversees these volunteers as they execute the programs.

    This a part-time, remote position with no paid benefits. Some nights, weekends, and travel required.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Develop and implement strategies to recruit, screen, train, and support volunteer presenters
    Coordinate state train-the-trainer programs for NAMI Family-to-Family, NAMI Family Support Group, NAMI Family & Friends, NAMI Homefront, and NAMI Ending the Silence
    Serve as liaison and provide administrative and logistical support for NAMI education programs and support programs
    Administer and collect program evaluations; summarize results
    Maintain lists of class participants for education programs, including current class lists and waiting lists
    Collect program data from teachers, facilitators, present
    Collect and compile data reports from affiliates
    Produce monthly data reports and provide to Executive Director
    Assist as needed during conferences, trainings, speaking engagements, health fairs, awareness events, and special programs as requested
    Cultivate existing relationships with schools, youth serving, faith-based communities, community centers, health care providers, mental health organizations, and corporations and local businesses with the goal of bringing awareness to NAMI programming
    Respond to/provide presentation requests from community organizations/agencies
    Participation in NAMI Alabama committees relevant to the position
    Work in partnership with Peer Programs Coordinator
    Other duties as assigned

    Education, experience, and skills needed:
    Strong written and verbal communication skills
    Ability to be flexible and work well with deadlines
    Strong organizational skills
    Experience in program coordination
    Ability to work well with small team and work independently
    Experience with program and/or grant monitoring desirable
    Knowledge of NAMI Signature Programs strongly preferred
    Lived experience (with a mental illness or as a family member/caregiver of an individual with mental illness) preferred
    Bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, human services or related field is required; an advanced degree is preferred
    Minimum 2 years of experience in a human services position
    Demonstrated skill and comfort in giving presentations within community and participating in community outreach activities
    Zoom platform knowledge and experience
    Proven time management skills and dependability
    Knowledge of local and state community resources
    Must have reliable transportation and valid driver's license
    Pass a criminal background check
    Ability to sit, stand, carry items and lifting regularly

    Location of Job:
    Montgomery, AL or remote-based. Must reside within Alabama and be able to travel in-state.

    Hours:
    The position requires, on average, 25-30 hours per week. The work schedule has some flexibility since it is a part time position. Occasionally there are weekend peer program trainings in Montgomery when the coordinator is expected to attend.
