Assistant Director for the Office of Student Services at the
Montgomery County Intermediate Unit The Assistant Director of Student Services will ensure comprehensive and continuous quality control of all Student Services programs.

The Assistant Director will plan, organize, and supervise the activities of administrators and staff for the effective and efficient delivery of services.


Qualifications:


  • Master's Degree in special education or related field
  • Valid PA Supervisory Level Certificate in Special Education and/or a valid PA Elem or Secondary Principal.
  • Minimum of 5 years of administrative experience
  • Expertise (includes one or more of the following):
  • Oversight of staff
  • Responsibility of Office-Level Budget including programs or initiatives
  • Frequently interfaces with Board, Customers, and Stakeholders
  • Experience working effectively and cooperatively with administration, parents, and professional and nonprofessional staff within the educational community.
  • Experience coordinating and tracking staff assignments, maintaining accurate records for such assignments, and approval of invoices.
  • Ability to supervise and work effectively and cooperatively with administrative, professional, and nonprofessional staff.
  • Proficiency in the use of technology for individual communication and research.
  • Employs good oral and written communication skills; demonstrates good organizational skills.
  • Very knowledgeable in IEP Writer and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Possesses effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface diplomatically with other teachers, administrators, parents, students, support staff, and outside professional contacts.
  • Qualities of leadership and good communication skills.
  • Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI.

Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Assist Director of Student Services in the development and coordination of the Office's special education budget.
  • Responsible for business transactions related to the special education budget, with continuous monitoring, adjusting, and administration of each program budget.
  • Responsible for oversight of assigned administrators and staff. Prepare performance evaluations of staff within the area of assigned responsibility.
  • Responsible for oversight of purchasing and accounting activities.
  • Provide advisory, liaison, and leadership services to county related groups.
  • Handling professional staff coverage for day to absence each morning in conjunction with HR by 6:00 am daily.
  • Responsible for running the Local Task Force meetings.
  • Liaison with the data team. Work closely with the Revenue Supervisor and the revenue/data team to identify and submit necessary State data tables and trouble shoot issues with the data
  • Participate and represent OSS at hiring events, resource fairs, and other County activities, which may require occasional evenings/after normal work hours
  • Oversee Instruction in the home and homebound requests
  • Provide the direct supervision and support for the instruction in the home teacher and the floater teachers.
  • Oversee the day to day operations for our nursing g staff
  • Coordinate and implement the PASA process including data submissions, teacher assignments, student rostering, and module completion within timeline
  • Facilitate the County mentor program
  • Identify and secure district classroom space for expansion of programs.
  • Assist in program expansion and development of new programs.
  • Stay current and updated on all OSS programming to help coordinate supports and services.
  • Assist in developing a professional development plan for special education classroom programs.
  • Coordinate and implement ESY programming for all programs including MDS, AS, LSS including contract with Easter Seals.
  • Create and share program data with program administrators.
  • Responsible for the completion and submission of all staterequired special education financial and educational reports.
  • Responsible for coordinating and updating of Montgomery County Intermediate Unit Special Education Plan.
  • Responsible for oversight and ordering of instructional and noninstructional materials and equipment.
  • Assume additional duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services.

Location:

The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit is located in Norristown, PA.


Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 7.0 hours/day, 12 months days/year)


Salary:

$123,509/year - $145,305/year
