- Ten years of management experience in purchasing and/or procurement in a manufacturing environment in the confectionery or food industry.
- Experience in sourcing and purchasing agricultural products including nutmeats, cream and butter. Experience in purchasing of chocolate and packaging is a plus.
- Proven ability to lead a team, develop staff, and drive performance improvement, demonstrated by progressive increases in management responsibility.
- Experience of working with the development and automation of data via Enterprise and Material Resource Planning systems.
- Excellent communicator with ability to build consensus among cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical, problem solving skills and negotiation skills.
- Over-all management experience in food manufacturing or food industry environment is a plus.

Job Description Summary:
The purpose of this position is to develop and oversee a strategic approach to the corporate procurement function for the purchase of direct and indirect goods and services, ensuring that all corporate departments are supplied with a sufficient quantity of materials that meet See's specifications in terms of quantity, quality, and price; develop and maintain strategic supply relationships; recommend and implement purchasing strategy as approved by the VP, Operations; measure and track material actual and forecast costs; and ensure that See's standards for quality, service, and cost are consistently adhered to by all suppliers.
The pay range for this position is expected to be $180k-$190k annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Job Description:
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintains oversight and control of the activities, operations, and projects of the Purchasing function. Supervises the sourcing and buying staff, including skill development, motivation, and performance management.
2. Negotiates and oversees major commodity raw material contracts (including chocolate, sugar, butter, and nut meats) ensuring that the required quality and quantity objectives are achieved. Oversees negotiation, sourcing and management of other raw material, packaging, and non-inventory supply contracts handled by purchasing management staff, ensuring that the required quality, service, availability, and budget objectives are achieved.
3. Negotiates and oversees the highly seasonal contracts and supply relationships for the Purchased Candies category.
4. Negotiates, sources, and oversees major packaging contracts, ensuring that the required quality, service, availability, and budget objectives are achieved.
5. Works with See's production, sales, e-commerce, and marketing to develop and plan for seasonal and year-round product lines, and ensure sufficient materials are purchased to support the planned sales. Oversees the close coordination with the creative team to ensure packaging artwork and packaging purchases are timely. Supports new product development/introduction efforts by finding and developing technology, suppliers, and processes that provide an advantage to the business.
6. Provides commodity and cost insights to management to contribute to recommendations on holiday and all-year pricing. Participates as a key member of the Demand & Production/Packing Team.
7. Responsible for qualifying, with support and approval of Quality Assurance and Research and Development, primary and secondary suppliers on all critical materials and supplies, and ensures the ongoing consistency of purchased goods meet See's specifications for quality and shelf life management. Assures that suppliers adhere to See's Code of Conduct for suppliers.
8. Participates in the development and final approval of See's specifications for raw materials, in conjunction with Quality Assurance and Research and Development. Assures all purchasing contracts and orders are clear and consistent with characteristics and requirements as detailed in See's specifications.
9. Works with key strategic suppliers to implement continuous improvement goals on product quality, supply levels, and cost management. Coordinates onsite plant visits by all strategic suppliers to ensure end use of supplier's products consistently meets See's high quality standards.
10. In conjunction with Research and Development, and Quality Assurance, maintains appropriate shelf life guidelines on all purchased goods, verifying with suppliers that purchased items will retain critical properties consistent with See's specifications. Ensures raw materials approaching or exceeding See's shelf-life guidelines are either used on a timely basis, or discarded if shelf life has expired.
11. Responsible for the successful delivery of process transformation, change management, and technology initiatives enabling clear visibility and efficient use of data via Enterprise Resource Planning systems and other key technology-based systems utilized by See's to ensure accurate and efficient management of materials, inventory, replenishment, and the necessary associated planning functions.
12. Develops and implements a company-wide Request for Proposal process to centralize proposals and bring consistency to the process.
12. Coordinates with the creative team to oversee overall packaging consistency and appropriateness with the See's brand.
13. Recommends purchasing strategy, goals, and guidelines to the VP, Operations on an annual basis. Responsible for Corporate Purchasing forecast, tracking and final spend of up to $100 million. Ensures that good Procurement practices are being leveraged in other key spend areas.
14. Completes special projects as assigned by the VP, Operations.
