    Experienced Construction Superintendent for High End Residential Builder

    Matarozzi Pelsinger Builders is a premier general contractor in the California Bay Area, and Jackson, WY. We have expertise in complex residential and light commercial construction, and specialize in all aspects of building from historical renovations, remodels, and retrofitting, to unique ground-up projects.

    MAIN RESPONSIBLITIES:

    • Direct, supervise, and mentor crew members.
    • Work cooperatively with Project Managers.
    • Layout jobsites on the lot, establish elevations and depth of excavation.
    • Must be able to successfully partner with all members of the Design Team (Architects, Engineers, Interior Designers, etc.) to solve any problems that may arise.
    • Determine labor requirements and communicate staffing needs to HR.
    • Generate supplies, materials lists, and timelines.
    • Be responsible for the efficient and profitable use of the MPB's time, manpower, and materials on each project.
    • Fill out Daily Log in ProCore every day and include pictures of daily progress.
    • Work alongside PM to review job costs, budgets, weekly field timecards, and tracking the progress and profitability of the projects.
    • Review building plans daily and make appropriate notations and details for subcontractors to ensure that their tasks are performed successfully.
    • Advise subcontractors of proposed schedule. Verify and confirm material lead times and purchase orders as needed to maintain efficient schedule.
    • Effectively communicate with project stakeholders throughout the project to guarantee client satisfaction.
    • Be able to perform all duties of a carpenter or finish carpenter, following recognized procedures/techniques for such work, as required.
    • Maintain a clean and safe jobsite during construction, including site conditions and streets; ensure that neighborhood streets and yards are clean, and that trash is cleaned up; make sure that winter site requirements are being adhered to.
    • Establish and enforce safety measures; make sure trade contractors perform work safely and in accordance with OSHA guidelines and that trade contractors have an effective safety program. Be intolerant of unsafe work practices and take appropriate but firm action to promptly remedy safety violations.
    • Help maintain the construction office and keep it clean and organized.
    • Make sure all punch-lists are completed quickly and professionally; make necessary repairs properly, avoiding quick fixes and coverups.
    • Participate in Architect walkthrough as necessary; ensure a smooth "handoff" of the home to SPD, and that the Client is happy with the transition.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAITS & SKILLS:

    • High School diploma or equivalent, college experience or degree highly preferred.
    • Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation, preferably a truck or a van
    • A minimum of seven years' experience in managing high end residential construction. A background in carpentry is required.
    • A commitment to delivering outstanding service to high end clientele.
    • Strong work ethic, self-directed, motivated, and reliable.
    • Open to feedback, with boundless amounts of positive energy.
    • Detail-oriented, and a highly resourceful problem-solver
    • Ability to run projects both independently and cooperatively in a fast-paced environment, with minimal supervision.
    • Impeccable and concise communication and presentation skills.
    • Strong time management skills, demonstrated ability to consistently meet deadlines, and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
    • Must be able to read and interpret plans, and possess a high level of comfort working with numbers.
    • Knowledgeable in all construction trades, and all phases of construction.
    • Ability to lead in a respectful, non-confrontational manner.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • Physical strength and stamina, ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50lbs.
    • Manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination, ability to handle, feel, lift, operate, and move objects, tools, or controls.
    • Strong reading and math skills.
    • Excellent vision and depth perception.
    • Ability to work in a construction environment.
    • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, dig, go up and down stairs and ladders, crouch, and crawl, and lying down.
    • Exposure to heat and/or cold, and inclement weather.
    • Exposure to fumes or airborne particles.

    The PLUSES:

    • College degree - an absolute PLUS.
    • Ten+ years' experience in high-end residential construction experience.
    • Experience building Modern Architecture projects.
    • 4-year carpentry apprenticeship plus experience as a Journeyman Carpenter is highly desirable.
