    Description


    Summary You will serve as a TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST in the CODE 109 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND CYBER SECURITY OFFICE, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY BUSINESS DIVISION of PSNS and IMF.

    Responsibilities You will support the PSNS and IMF Telecommunications Officer and liaison between PSNS and IMF telecommunications providers or equipment contractors to ensure the telecommunications systems (voice and video) maintain efficiency and effectiveness.

    You will document, plan, modify, test, install, implement, and support new or existing Telecommunication and teleconferencing systems/hardware (voice and video) and Private Branch Exchange (PBX) systems.

    You will review and analyze telecommunications technology practices and processes for the purpose of improving efficiency and effectiveness of telecommunications.

    You will participate in the initial planning of new telecommunication facilities and special projects such as renovation of telecommunication/ teleconferencing existing spaces.

    You will ensure all activities justify requests for new or additional telecommunications services. You will maintain documentation of trouble reports associated with leased or government telecommunications facilities and services.

    You will provide budgeting, funding information and guidance for communications services and facilities for all customers and major claimants' telecommunication needs within their authority, in accordance with appropriate instructions.

    You will monitor the performance and service levels provided by contactors.

    You will ensure all telephone bills are processed in a timely manner to prevent delayed payment charges and verify all bills before certification.

    Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrate knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

    Education In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

    or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related or A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

    This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position requires rotating shift work.
