    • Workers' Compensation Program Analyst 3.

    Hiring Salary range:
    $80,300.00 to 106,500.00.

    • Workers' Compensation Program Analyst 2.

    Hiring Salary range:
    $66,900.00 to 77,100.00.
    WORKERS COMPENSATION PROGRAM ANALYST - DESCRIPTION


    Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced enterprise risk management professional with a full understanding of industry practices and organizational policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues.

    Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors in the areas of physical risk, business risk, employee injury and process risk.

    Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
    The Workers' Compensation Program Analyst 3 works under the general supervision of the Workers' Compensation Program Manager.

    This position is independently responsible for the administration and management of more than 500 (of approximately 1000 total claims) incident reports, claims case management for more than 225 (of approximately 475 total open claims) workers' compensation claims and the proper identification and administration of CAL-OSHA recordable and reportable injuries for the UC San Diego campus.

    Incumbent is also a critical component of injury prevention initiatives and Transitional Return to Work Program (TRTW) coordination. This position impacts campus wide constituencies at all levels of the organization. Incumbent is responsible for remaining current on related Federal, State and local regulations.

    Provide Federal and State labor codes, State insurance regulations, University of California Office of the Present (UCOP) workers' compensation and supplemental benefit policy interpretations, and ensure compliance with all.

    Assist Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) staff with interfacing and coordinating Federal, State and local regulatory enforcement agency inspections.
    The primary focus of the Incident Reporting Program is tri-fold: 1) ensure accurate and timely reporting of workers' compensation claims per Title 8, California Code of Regulations, Subdivision 14001, 2) ensure accurate and timely recording and reporting of CAL-OSHA injury claims per CAL-OSHA regulations, and 3) assist in the operation of loss prevention initiatives by identifying, trending and analyzing work-related injuries and illnesses.

    The primary focus of UC San Diego's workers' compensation claims case management program is to design, develop and implement loss control initiatives.

    Loss control initiatives are intended to minimize adverse physical and financial effects of accidents.

    Incumbent is responsible for the oversight of severity coding by Third Party Administrator (TPA), appropriate delay, denial, or acceptance by TPA, appropriate medical case management, benefit provision and payments; as well as appropriate provision and payment of UC supplement benefits by departments, Payroll Department and Office of the President.

    The primary focus of the CAL-OSHA/Federal OSHA Reporting Program is to ensure UC San Diego's compliance with State labor code 6410 and Federal OSHA codes.

    These labor codes and regulations detail the legal specifications of what, how, and when an employer is required by law to record and report regarding work-related injuries, illnesses and fatalities, or face fines and penalties.

    WORKERS COMPENSATION PROGRAM ANALYST - DESCRIPTION

    Uses professional enterprise risk management concepts. Applies organizational policies and procedures to resolve a variety of moderately complicated issues.

    Works on casualty, property, employee injury, and loss prevention programs and services where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
