Description
Program support role for the MCS/VAD [Mechanical Circulatory Support/Ventricular Assist Device) team, collaborating with the clinical providers to capture equipment related needs through the patient's trajectory (pre-implant, inpatient, discharge readiness, and post-discharge follow through to end of life). Maintains inventory documentation for the program as required by TJC (The Joint Commission). Works with the team to assist with Quality improvement and safety requirements.Essential Job Statements
Equipment coordination:
Inventory management of MCS peripheral devices and related equipment
Identifies when LVAD [left ventricular Assist Device] candidate is being evaluated and then implanted
Interaction and liaison between MCS [Mechanical Circulatory Support] team and Biomedical Engineering for equipment safety, management and trouble-shooting
Notifies appropriate local power companies and EMS [emergency Medical Services] providers prior to patient discharge
Supports education of clinical staff and patients
Participates in VAD Day
Maintains competency in all MCS devices and related equipment
Supports quality analysis
Participates with the clinical team in the implementation and evaluation of the MCS Program
Performs appropriate data entry and documentation
Identifies areas for patient care improvement/safety
Communicates effectively with
Patients and care providers
Members of the multidisciplinary team within and outside the organization
Manufacturers, vendors and DME involved in the care of MCS patient
Other duties as assigned

Employment Qualifications
Required Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
