    Description
    Program support role for the MCS/VAD [Mechanical Circulatory Support/Ventricular Assist Device) team, collaborating with the clinical providers to capture equipment related needs through the patient's trajectory (pre-implant, inpatient, discharge readiness, and post-discharge follow through to end of life). Maintains inventory documentation for the program as required by TJC (The Joint Commission). Works with the team to assist with Quality improvement and safety requirements.

    Essential Job Statements

    Equipment coordination:

    Inventory management of MCS peripheral devices and related equipment

    • Maintain equipment storage and cleaning
    • Perform quality checks and data downloads
    • Manage and track yearly maintenance and DME on existing patient devices through computer based programs
    • Interaction with manufacturers/DME[Durable Medical Equipment] in regards to equipment management
    • Assist patient care team with equipment recalls
    • Coordinate purchase and delivery of new and replacement equipment
    • Interacts with transplant administration in the purchasing and budgetary process

    Identifies when LVAD [left ventricular Assist Device] candidate is being evaluated and then implanted

    • Works with team members to send over referral materials to appropriate DMEs
    • Orders, prepares, and distributes appropriate equipment for discharge

    Interaction and liaison between MCS [Mechanical Circulatory Support] team and Biomedical Engineering for equipment safety, management and trouble-shooting

    Notifies appropriate local power companies and EMS [emergency Medical Services] providers prior to patient discharge

    Supports education of clinical staff and patients

    Participates in VAD Day

    Maintains competency in all MCS devices and related equipment

    Supports quality analysis

    Participates with the clinical team in the implementation and evaluation of the MCS Program

    • Assists with gathering INTERMACs QOL ** patient surveys, and patient satisfaction data

    Performs appropriate data entry and documentation

    Identifies areas for patient care improvement/safety

    Communicates effectively with

    Patients and care providers

    Members of the multidisciplinary team within and outside the organization

    Manufacturers, vendors and DME involved in the care of MCS patient

    Other duties as assigned

    Employment Qualifications

    Required Education:

    High School Diploma or equivalent.

    Combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

    Preferred Education:

    Associate degree or higher, preferably in medical related context
