    Job Duties

    This project management position is responsible for executing the Virginia Comprehensive Cancer Control Program (VACCCP) assuring all required work plan activities and reporting elements are completed accurately and within the established timeframes. The position is responsible for (1) planning, implementing and evaluating strategies from the Virginia Cancer Plan through partnership, collaboration and integration with the Cancer Action Coalition of Virginia (CACV) and its membership; (2) serving on the CACV Executive Board, CACV implementation work groups, and other community partner groups as needed; (3) serving as subject matter expert on the implementation of evidence-based interventions (EBIs) and policy, system, and environmental changes (PSEs), providing training and resources to partners on the use of EBIs and PSEs to accomplish strategies from the Virginia Cancer Plan; (4) managing the implementation of all VACCCP projects and ensuring adherence to CDC funding requirements; (5) providing guidance and technical support to CACV general membership and workgroups on the implement of Virginia Cancer Plan strategies, ensuring health equity is integrated into all activities; (6) monitoring all contracts, MOAs and agreements to ensure all deliverables are met and meet or exceed the project's expectations; and (7) tracking the expenditure of all funds to assure they are spent appropriately and in accordance with state procurement policies.

    This is a restricted position, which is solely funded by the Cancer Prevention and Control for a five year period ending June 29, 2027. The availability of funding is scheduled for review before the grant expiration date and periodically thereafter. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of funds.

    Provides support, in a staff capacity, by focusing on intermediate term program issues with agency wide application. Characteristic duties include: program development, planning, monitoring, analysis, grants management, recommending policies and procedures, program research, and evaluating changes in rules, regulations and legislative proposals for impact on service delivery. Thorough knowledge of program management, analytical principles and service integration is necessary. Responsibilities are carried out independently based on an outline or work plan developed by or approved by the supervisor.

    Minimum Qualifications


    • Experience in the implementation and evaluation of evidence-based interventions;

    • Experience in program planning, implementation and evaluation;

    • Experience in educating the public on chronic disease conditions (including cancer);

    • Experience managing grants and budgets;

    • Experience making presentations to diverse audiences;

    • Experience in writing reports, program plans, and grants;

    • Experience in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with state coalitions, work groups, and committees

    • Experience in collaborating across organizations to leverage resources to implement shared activities;

    • Experience incorporating health equity and social determinants of health into program planning, implementation, and evaluation;

    • Demonstrated extensive knowledge in Community Health or Public Health

    Additional Considerations


    • Experience in evidence-based cancer prevention, detection, and control interventions;

    • Experience in implementing policy, system, and environmental control initiatives;

    • Experience in collaborating with health systems to implement evidence-based interventions and quality improvement projects
