    Summary:

    The Health Equity Across the Lifespan in Virginia Lab (HEAL-VA Lab) in the VCU Department of African American Studies is looking for a Senior Research Program Coordinator who is enthusiastic and detail-oriented to join the team. This remote/hybrid position, grant-funded, provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research initiatives focused on advancing health equity and social justice.

    Responsibilities:

    • Coordinating Lab Research Activities and Research Training Program Activities.
    • Managing and coordinating research and research development activities in the HEAL-VA Lab, aligning them with project goals.
    • Supporting research staff training and supervision.
    • Assisting in enhancing career development, skills, and competency of health equity investigators.
    • Coordinating activities with senior investigators and program applicants to guide successful grant submissions and project implementation.
    • Developing and refining research proposals, project-related websites, and training resources.
    • Establishing methods for achieving specific goals and objectives.

    NOTE:
    The successful candidate understands that this is a restricted position, and ongoing employment depends on continued funding.



    Job-Specific Duties:

    Coordinate Lab Research Activities:
    Coordinate all research and research development activities within the HEAL-VA Lab, from proposal development to dissemination of findings. Ensure adherence to protocols and ethical guidelines and develop secure data systems.

    Coordinate Research Training Program Activities:
    Coordinate grant training for pre- and post-award activities, update curricula, and facilitate training sessions for applicants and mentors.

    Minimum Hiring Standards:
    • Master's degree in health sciences, public health, social sciences, or related field.
    • Proficiency in qualitative research methods and human subjects research regulations.
    • Experience in project management and grant writing.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other research software programs.

    Physical and Cognitive Requirements:
    Physical Demands:
    Light lifting, standing, sitting, walking, with some pushing/pulling, reaching, and bending.
    Emotional Demands:
    Fast pace, average pace, multiple stimuli, with some intense customer interaction and frequent change.
    Mental/Sensory Demands:
    Memory, reasoning, hearing, reading, analyzing, logic, verbal and written communication.
