    AGC Position Overview:

    We are currently recruiting for our client, a prestigious energy company, seeking an AGC with expertise in energy trading and regulatory compliance. This role offers the opportunity to provide legal guidance and support to their energy trading division, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations while mitigating legal risks. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of energy markets, trading practices, and regulatory frameworks.

    AGC Responsibilities:

    1. Provide legal support and advice to the energy trading division on various matters, including contract negotiation, transactional analysis, and regulatory compliance.
    2. Develop and implement compliance programs and procedures to ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
    3. Stay abreast of changes in energy trading regulations and market trends, advising the company on potential impacts and opportunities.
    4. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including risk management, operations, and finance teams, to identify legal risks and develop strategies for mitigation.
    5. Conduct legal research and analysis on complex issues related to energy trading, including market manipulation, anti-money laundering, and derivatives regulation.
    6. Assist in the negotiation and drafting of energy trading agreements, including master trading agreements, ISDAs, and other related contracts.
    7. Represent the company in regulatory inquiries, audits, and investigations, ensuring timely and appropriate responses to regulatory authorities.
    8. Provide training and guidance to employees on legal and compliance matters related to energy trading activities.

    AGC Qualifications:

    1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
    2. Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on energy trading, commodities regulation, or related fields.
    3. Strong understanding of energy markets, trading strategies, and financial instruments, with a demonstrated ability to apply legal principles in a trading environment.
    4. Experience with regulatory compliance in the energy sector, including knowledge of applicable laws such as the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA), Dodd-Frank Act, and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulations.
    5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess legal risks and develop practical solutions.
    6. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and interact with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders.
    7. Proven track record of managing complex legal matters and providing strategic advice to senior management.
    8. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
