    Description


    Responsibilities / TasksA Lyophilizer Field Service Engineer assists and performs the installation, start-up, commissioning, evaluation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairing of the GEA pharmaceutical lyophilizers at customer sites.

    In addition, they assist with the performance of factory acceptance tests in Germany from time to time. A GEA FST will travel up to seventy-five percent of thetime.
    • All work is to be performed in strict compliance with GEA and a particular customer's Safety, cGMP, and Quality System requirements.

    The following tasks are performed at customer locations in Canada, Puerto Rico, Mexico and the USAWorking supervision of local forces receiving and installing GEA Lyophilizers.

    Working supervision of start-up, commissioning, IQ, OQ, and SAT of GEA Lyophilizers.
    Perform preventative maintenance services which includes proper completion of associated records.
    Perform calibration services which includes proper completion of associated records.
    Working supervision of local forces rebuilding and upgrading installations in cooperation with the responsible specialist departments.
    Investigate and troubleshoot problems, make repairs recommendations, and then perform the repairs.
    Write service call reports and follow up with customers and affiliates as required.

    Contribute to team effort by working the necessary hours, including reasonable overtime, to satisfy the customer and/or complete the task completing all tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor.

    Be the "Face of GEA"; good people skills and professional behavior are required.

    The following tasks are performed at GEA sites in Europe and the USA (driver's license and ability to travel internationally are a must)Assist with the performance of Lyophilizer Factory Acceptance Tests.

    Attend Lyophilizer FSE product training sessions.
    Write service call reports and follow up with customers and affiliates as required.
    Remote support of customers via telephone and email communications.

    Contribute to team effort by working the necessary hours, including reasonable overtime, to satisfy the customer and/or complete the task completing all tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor.

    Your Profile / QualificationsTo qualify for this technical position, you must possess the following skills and experiences:
    AAS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or applicable technical school training.
    Minimum of 5 years industrial experience with industrial refrigeration systems or specific refrigeration systems training.
    Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of machine operation, repair, and maintenance, including related tools and methods.
    Understanding of electrical schematics, electrical instrumentation and wiring methods.
    Understanding of basic pneumatics and hydraulics.
    Familiarity with industrial environments and OSHA requirements.
    Prior work experience with pharmaceutical freeze dryers is a plus.
    Positive work ethic and enthusiasm.
    Must be detail oriented.

    The ideal candidate would already have:
    EPA 608 Universal refrigeration systems certification.
    Knowledge of Industrial vacuum systems and vacuum chambers.
    Knowledge of Industrial hydraulic systems.
    Knowledge of Electromechanical systems including motion control.
    Knowledge of Industrial instrumentation and metrology.
    Knowledge of cGMP pharmaceutical manufacturing.
    Knowledge of Industrial control systems, automation, and GAMP.


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Sit, stand, bend, reach, walk, and maneuver in small spaces for long periods of time.
    Must be able to lift/carry 75 lbs. frequently.
    Ability to see, hear, and smell well enough to be able to work safely in construction and industrial environments.
    Sufficient hand, arm and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard, tools, and machinery.
    Ability to tolerate working in personal protective equipment and gowning when required.
    Ability to tolerate work environment that are hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet and/or noisy at various times.
