The Accounting Manager is responsible for the day to day planning, coordinating and directing accounting operations for the organization in partnership with the Controller.
Responsible for supervising, leading, and developing a motivated accounting staff and leveraging the Company's accounting systems to drive efficiency and mitigate risk of error.
The Accounting Manager will drive the month-end closing process to meet all applicable deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and adherence to a strong internal control environment to meet Sarbanes Oxley compliance requirements.
ResponsibilitiesManages daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual U.S.
GAAP accounting and closing of the books activities to ensure accounting and reporting is timely and accurate to meet monthly reporting deadlines as well as SEC quarterly and annual reporting deadlines.
Supervises the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to meet all reporting deadlines.Backfill for the Assistant Controller/Controller, if necessary.
Assistance with providing timely and accurate information to internal and external auditors as well as tax professionals.
Develops and implements goals, priorities and procedures relating to accounting policies.
Ensures accurate documentation and compliance with policies, processes, and internal controls.
Focuses on continuous improvement of quality, processes, and procedures of accounting functions.
Assistance with the establishment, documentation, maintenance, testing and compliance with Standard Accounting Policies and Procedures and internal controls for our finance and accounting operations to comply with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
Responsible for the preparation and/or review of monthly general and subsidiary ledgers, account reconciliations and journal entries prior to issuance of the monthly financial statements.
Assists Controller in ensuring that all monthly general and subsidiary ledger account reconciliations are prepared, reviewed, accurate and contain proper support prior to the issuance of the financial statements.
Assistance with oversight of accounts payable, procurement, and outsourced organization.Assistance with oversight of general accounting functions.
Assistance with federal tax, hotel occupancy tax matters, filings, and related audits.
Assistance with the budget process.
Assistance with account analysis and month end analytics.
Responsible for executing and documenting assigned internal controls each applicable period.
Responsible for documenting accounting SOPs and driving compliance with SOPs.
Leads, coaches, and develops accounting team as well as outsourced assisting organizations.
Other duties and special assignments as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
CPA required.
Big 4 public accounting audit experience preferred, preferably through the senior/manager level.
Accounting experience in an SEC reporting environment required.
Sarbanes Oxley experience required.
8-10 years of progressive accounting experience in a fast-paced environment. Such experience can be supplemented with public accounting audit experience.
3-5 years' experience with progressive management or supervisory responsibilities.
Proven record of leveraging system applications to drive efficiency and an effective control environment, while migrating away from reliance on excel to mitigate risk of error.
Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud Preferred.Experience with Oracle account reconciliations a plus.
Experience closing the books in a public company accelerated filer environment against very tight deadlines.
Experience with lease accounting (ASC 842) and documentation.
Experience with accounting for fixed assets.
Strong familiarity with month-end closings.
Strong analytical, technology, and organizational skills.
Demonstrates knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
Strong desire to adhere to U.S. GAAP financial accounting and reporting standards.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent project management skills.
Demonstrates ability to complete complex reports in a deadline driven environment.
Must be a hands-on self-starter, deadline driven, with a strong work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Team player willing to interface and partner with members in all areas of a rapidly growing organization.
