    In this role, you will
    be responsible for all Direct to Consumer (D2C) native mobile applications in continental Europe. You will engage with multiple cross-functional teams, all aiming for building the right solutions for European investors. You will grow, mentor, and coach Software Engineers and drive the development of state-of-the-art technology to deliver on the outlined

    In this role, you will
    be responsible for all Direct to Consumer (D2C) native mobile applications in continental Europe. You will engage with multiple cross-functional teams, all aiming for building the right solutions for European investors.

    You will grow, mentor, and coach Software Engineers and drive the development of state-of-the-art technology to deliver on the outlined product and technology strategy.

    As part of the engineering leadership team, you will closely collaborate with everyone on driving the business in the right direction and shaping the future of investment.


    Key responsibilities

    • Manage and lead the mobile engineering team to deliver an outstanding product that satisfies the needs of internal and external customers and helps us achieving our business goals
    • Closely collaborate with our Product Team to align on planning and execution of the product & technology strategy and roadmap
    • Plan and manage engineering capacity to support product & technology strategy
    • Work closely with Head of Technology to implement hiring and operational plans.
    • Provide overview and insights to the Engineering work, report on progress, issues, blockers and mitigation measures to Senior Manager
    • Mentor your directs to become the best they can be, set performance standards, review performance and provide high quality feedback
    • Further grow the team, always maintaining a lens for culture whilst scaling for future growth
    • Closely monitor team performance and continuously improve the way teams work, focusing on outcomes over processes
    • Lead quality initiatives to improve the delivery of service levels
    • Identify potential solutions, including the cost/benefit of each option. Approve technical solutions proposed by team members. Elevate complex technical issues to IT experts, including architects and vendors
    • Partner with technical stakeholders across Vanguard to leverage or adapt existing solutions

    What it takes

    The candidate would have proven leadership experience, having led teams of 5+ engineers and experience in structuring and mentoring agile technology teams.

    Ideally the candidate worked with distributed teams before and knows how to orchestrate external vendors and 3rd party integrations. The candidate would need strong written and oral communication skills.

    Were looking for someone with at least 8 years of experience in developing Android or (and) IOS native applications and expert knowledge of one or more programming languages (Kotlin, Swift/Swift UI), to drive the adoption of best practices across the entire software development lifecycle, and an outstanding focus on delivery, instilling a Build-and-Run mindset.

    Exposure to financial services or fintech and BAIT is a strong plus.
