    Position Summary:

    Hillwood Communities is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the accounting for residential master planned communities. Ideal candidates are self-starters, adept at multitasking and excel in dynamic environments.

    Responsibilities:
    • Directly supervise staff accounts payable accountant and 3rd party offshore accountants
    • Review monthly financial statements for accuracy and completeness in accordance with GAAP including posting reclassifications and accruals as necessary
    • Review journal entries prepared by staff and senior accountants before posting
    • Prepare and/or review monthly reporting packages for joint venture partners
    • Prepare and/or review capital calls and distributions related to joint venture partners
    • Prepare and/or review equity pick ups
    • Assist with lender reporting and draw reporting
    • Assist in preparation and review of annual project budgets on cash and GAAP bases
    • Assist accounting staff as needed during peak times, including accounting for certain projects and/or review of financial information
    • Prepare/review wires for interest, fees, and other payments
    • Record purchase and sale transactions in accordance with GAAP
    • For acquisitions, assist with securing debt facility, setting up bank accounts, preparing distribution waterfall calculations and overseeing overall set up of project in systems
    • For dispositions, prepare final distribution and wrap up accounting, including preparation of final project reports, and oversee legal entity close out
    • Communicate and provide information to development team, project managers, FP&A analysts, capital partners, auditors, corporate accounting, tax department, lenders and others as needed
    • Participate in division-specific and company-wide technology initiatives
    • Leverage experience to improve productivity, control, and transparency of accounting processes
    • Special projects and ad hoc requests as assigned
    Required Skills/Abilities:
    • Strong Excel skills with JD Edwards experience preferred
    • Experience in development and real estate operational accounting
    • Ability to interpret language in governing documents: partnership agreements, purchase and sale agreements, development agreements, loan agreements
    • Experience working with partnership waterfalls is a plus
    • Strong organizational and planning skills
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
    • Ability to multi-task and excel in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision
    Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred
    • Minimum of 5 years' experience in public accounting and/or real estate accounting preferred
    • Experience managing and leading a team (2+ years)
    • Previous exposure to ReportsNow software and OneStream, a plus
