- Develop and execute comprehensive retail strategies for 2-3 consumer brands at any one time, guiding them from planning to execution of their retail objectives. This includes identifying target retailers, crafting tailored pitch presentations, and negotiating contracts to secure shelf space in specialty retail outlets.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the agency and client brands, ensuring transparent communication and the achievement of brand goals. Regularly schedule and lead update meetings to discuss progress against key performance indicators (KPIs), highlight successes, and explore opportunities for growth.
- Use your established network of retail contacts to facilitate introductions and secure prime retail placements for our brands. Actively seek to expand this network by attending industry events, leveraging social media platforms, and engaging with potential new retail partners.
- Oversee the organization and tracking of all account activities within our CRM system. Take initiative to refine and enhance existing processes for greater efficiency and effectiveness in our operations.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in the retail sector and consumer behavior, providing clients with insights that can inform their strategies. This may involve conducting market research, analyzing competitive landscapes, and recommending new opportunities for brand placement and promotion.
- Act as a mentor to the junior account manager, offering guidance and support in their development and the management of independent accounts. Collaborate closely with the wider team to share insights, strategies, and successes that can benefit all agency clients.
- Represent our client brands with passion and professionalism at all times, advocating for their interests in negotiations and partnership discussions. Ensure that all brand materials and communications reflect the high standards and unique value propositions of each client.
- Initial compensation between $80k - $100k USD annually depending on experience with opportunity for this to increase substantially.

About the Role:
Middlebox is hiring an experienced Account Director to spearhead retail strategy and execution for a portfolio of consumer brands. This critical role requires a holistic approach to account management ranging from strategic planning and client communication to the final stages of pitching and closing deals with specialty retail partners. Supported by a junior account manager and reporting directly to the CEO, the ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 5+ years of account management experience in the consumer goods industry, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a deep understanding of the retail landscape. This is a remote opportunity, with a preference for candidates based in New York to synergize with our U.S. team, while also maintaining a connection with our colleagues in London.
