    Description

    Our client, a Seed-stage NYC-based FinTech startup, is seeking an Engineering Lead to join their team as a full-time direct hire. This company is building a personal finance platform specifically tailored for newly-enlisted members of the US military, with the mission of increasing financial literacy and credit for this historically-underserved and often low-income group. Think of this company as NerdWallet or SoFi for new service-members.

    This role will start as an individual contributor with ownership of systems design and architecture, full-stack coding, and mentoring/hiring of additional technical staff. The ideal person for this position has strong experience in FinTech or banking, has worked in a lean high-growth organization, and has a strong bias toward technical contribution versus immediate expectations of people management. This role will have the potential to advance into a Head of Engineering designation as the company grows, and will have a cofounder-level opportunity to shape the future of the organization.

    This company recently landed a sizable Seed round from numerous high-profile VCs and angels. Their cofounders, investors, and advisory include founders of DoorDash, Able, and NerdWallet, as well as a Medal of Honor recipient and a four-star General. This is a virtually-unaddressed market, with the closest competitors being local credit unions and USAA.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Develop and support software including applications, database integration, interfaces, and new functionality enhancements
    • Construct the banking client to interface seamlessly with BaaS sponsor and partner bank
    • Integration with BaaS provider APIs for account openings, fund wiring, account closures, etc.
    • Coordinate cross-functionally to insure project meets business objectives and compliance standards
    • Support test and deployment of new products and features
    • Participate in code reviews
    • Guide, mentor, and develop engineering team
    • Implement and refine engineering processes, methodologies, and best practices

    Job Qualifications:

    • 5+ years full-stack software engineering experience.
    • FinTech experience is an absolute must, startup or high-growth organization experience preferred
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred
    • Proficiency with Typescript, React Native, Express, AWS, and PostgreSQL
    • REQUIREMENT: Must be based in NYC metro area with ability to work onsite 2-3 days/week
