Role Summary:
The role of the Technical Support Engineer\Technical Specialist will be to work closely with Sales, Application Engineering, and Cooper's Internal and External Customers to ensure that customer's technical support requests are met.
In this role you will work systematically to make informed decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.
The Technical Support Engineer\Technical Specialist role is based out of Cooper Machinery's Port Northwest Office in Houston, TX.As a Technical Support Engineer/Technical Specialist in Cooper's engineering department you will report to the Engineering Manager – Legacy Support.
The Legacy Support team is comprised of both Engineers and Expert Level Technicians.You will play a critical role in supporting other internal clients, including Project Managers, Product Managers, Sales, Marketing and Application Engineering on various needs specific to gas compression projects.
Responsibilities:
Must be able to engage immediately and communicate effectively with internal and external customers during issue resolution.
Must be familiar with the design and operations of reciprocating compressors and internal combustion engines and their sub-assemblies.
Must possess excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
Must possess a strong desire to learn, investigate, and solve technical issues on reciprocating engine and gas compression equipment.
Must have the ability to lead and influence cross functional teams.
Must be humble, willing to accept responsibility, and work to find solutions to complex issues.
When required, take trips to customer equipment. Less than 10 percent travel.
Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in engineering, or a graduate of a technical school combined with extensive hands on experience and in-depth technical aptitude of internal combustion engines and reciprocating compressors.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong technical expertise in engines, engine tuning, and upgrades, including understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
Familiarity with different types of engines and their performance characteristics, as well as experience with tuning and calibrating engines for optimal performance.
Troubleshooting Skills:
Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues related to internal combustion engines and reciprocating compressors. Proficient in using diagnostic tools, software, and equipment to troubleshoot and repair engine systems. Analytical mindset to identify root causes of issues and implement effective solutions.
Have knowledge of oilfield, production facilities, and compression operations.
Ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships with customers.
Reciprocating equipment experience in engines and or compressors.
Demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
Commitment to safety, customer service quality and to work in team-oriented environment.
Prior experience that demonstrates a strong work ethic and ability to multi-task.
