    Brief Description

    The Content Acquisition Manager is responsible for:

    + Researching content sources in pathology and laboratory medicine for current and emerging topics that may be developed into education programs or publications.

    + Identifying and recommending development opportunities that expands CAPs pipeline of new education programs.

    + Overseeing the content acquisition process through proposal approval for new education programs.

    + Leading education content planning for CAP Annual Meeting, including CME plenary events and other events as assigned.

    + Fostering relationships with external organizations in acquiring content.

    + Assisting the director with key department functions (ie, metric monitoring/reporting; budget and forecast preparation).

    + Exercising objective, logical, and independent judgment in the performance of duties.

    Specific Duties

    Primary duties and responsibilities:

    Content Acquisition and Review

    + Review scientific journals, medical magazines, and other sources to identify current and emerging topics that impact pathology and laboratory medicine.

    + Understand and communicate the strategic value of content planning and acquisition to project working groups (ie, members, staff, and other content experts) through clear goals, expectations, guidance, and direction.

    + Using a data-driven process, collaborate with staff, committee members, and other SMEs to identify priority need topics and recommend opportunities for further development as new programs and products.

    + Manage content acquisition processes associated with the planning work of the Curriculum Committees and other CAP Councils and Committees, as necessary, through proposal approval:

    + establishment of project plans with milestones and timelines

    + resource planning and management

    + project monitoring, including issue escalation and resolution, and

    + status updates.

    + Co-lead education planning, including content creation as needed (eg, CME plenaries), for the CAP Annual Meeting and other assigned education events.

    + Consult on product review discussions as needed to ensure existing education content remains current and relevant.

    + Foster and maintain relationships with Annual Meeting Supporting Society partners in acquiring content aligned with education goals and/or gaps; identify potential new organizations in partnership with the Curriculum Committee and initiate contact to assess interest in participating on Annual Meeting education.

    + Review education program content (eg, presentation materials) to ensure independence, objectivity, balance, and scientific rigor in accordance with accredited continuing education requirements; mitigate identified conflicts in consultation with the Continuing Education Manager.

    + Support educational grant development when requested.

    Committee Administration and Support

    + Co-lead planning and facilitate Curriculum Committee meetings, including site selection, agenda planning, hybrid meeting management, and meeting follow-ups (eg, minutes, assignments).

    + Prepare committee budget, approve meeting expenses and member reimbursements.

    Operations

    + Develop and maintain content acquisition processes, decision criteria, procedures, and templates.

    + Provide input on and implement tactical plans aligned with the strategy.

    + Work with the director to develop success metrics aligned with the strategy; implement, monitor, and report on results, including recommendations for improvement.

    + Assist the director in developing annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for the department.

    + E nsure deliverables reflect a high degree of quality and conformance to established standards.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    + Solid knowledge and application of continuing education regulatory or licensure requirements (eg, ACCME, AMA, ABPath).

    Education/Experience

    Education

    + Bachelors degree required. Equivalent related education content planning experience will be considered in lieu of degree .

    + Masters degree or equivalent in business management or education desired.

    Experience

    + Minimum 3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory or health care environment in roles of increasing responsibility.

    + Experience as a technical specialist in CAP Surveys or LAP divisions preferred.

    + Knowledge of pathology and/or laboratory medicine content required.

    + Demonstrated proficiency with clinical content development, quality control/assurance, medical terminologies, and project management.

    Related certifications

    + MT (ASCP), CT(ASCP), or HT(ASCP) highly recommended.

    Additional Criteria

    + 10% travel required, including weekends.

    + This role is based out of the Northfield, IL headquarters and candidates must reside within a reasonable commute to the office.
