    Our Accountant position provides a chance for the right candidate to leverage their accounting skills to do amazing good right here in San Diego.

    This is a great opportunity for a young professional interested in accelerating their skill set and diving deep into how things really work in the nonprofit sector.

    And for anyone who wants to make more meaning during their working hours.
    Salary range $45k - $60k annually. Remote first, 35 hour work week, unlimited vacation, flexible scheduling, pro work / life balance. Health benefits and 3% retirement matching at six months.

    We are a referral-only boutique consulting firm that provides CFO / COO / Executive Director support and ongoing management services to nonprofit and mission-based organizations in San Diego and Southern California.

    We specialize in all the boring things ( finance, accounting, HR, operations ) that make magic and mission possible. We are in the weeds, in the board rooms, at the fundraising lunches and at the strategic planning retreats.

    We believe in high touch, deep impact engagements that generate meaningful and tangible results of quality that surprise clients and leads to a robust referral pipeline.

    Founded in 2019, we currently have fifteen ongoing nonprofit clients, have provided excellent service to more than sixty organizations since inception, and continue to grow rapidly.

    About The Position

    As an accountant, you will work with a handful of our nonprofit clients and provide support with a variety of accounting and bookkeeping services.

    Responsibilities
    General Bookkeeping
    You will keep a clean general ledger for our clients, with timely and accurate journal entries, AP, AR, bank and credit card transactions
    Month End Close
    You will perform a variety of month-end closing procedures, including bank reconciliations, depreciation, and other regular accruals
    Payroll Management
    Payroll is the biggest expense for most nonprofits – you will help track wages and taxes expenses and their allocated impact on different program areas
    Excel Wrangling
    Occasionally you'll help make heads or tails of a big giant complicated excel workbook and support the data entry needed for it all to make sense
    Ad Hoc Administration
    Every day is a little different, so you will be available to support other general and administrative tasks as they come up
    Mission Minded
    With an understanding of what really matters to our clients, you will make decisions that prioritize mission returns and programmatic impact
    Customer Service
    You will become a trusted, valued, and liked member of client management teams
    Skills
    Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience
    2+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping
    Nonprofit experience a plus
    Quickbooks familiar
    Excel fluent ( vlookups, sumifs, etc )
    Great communication, both internally and with our clients
    Ability to simultaneously self-manage multiple priorities and overlapping deadlines
    Ability to take initiative and solve problems independently
    Personal drive to make a meaningful difference in our San Diego community
