Position Overview


JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the Finance & Accounting team as the Accounts Payable Supervisor.

In this role, you have the opportunity to interact with all Accounting Department members to support various accounting functions and be responsible for performing all functions of accounts payable.

Works closely and supervise three AP Clerks on daily processing and ensuring all AP transactions are recorded accurately and timely to meet deadlines.

Works closely and assists the Accounting Manager on month-end and year-end close process, receive project assignments, and respond to requests for financial information and analysis.

Interacts with management personnel to obtain supporting documentation required for accounting items and resolve A/P related issues/problems.


Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for all activity related to Accounts Payable
  • Annual 1099 reporting
  • Accounts Payable prepaids and accruals management
  • AP GL related monthly reconciliations
  • Resolve accounting technical issues for the AP Team
  • Ensuring all AP transactions are recorded accurately and timely
  • Assists with the monthend and yearend close process
  • Responsible for specific accruals and account reconciliations
  • Process some AP Invoices with large distribution as Journal Entries
  • Maintains an uptodate AP procedural manual
  • Responsible for Credit Card management and accrual of expenses
  • Backup assistance for the Staff Accountant position when necessary: updating daily cash reconciliation, processing cash receivable, setting up new vendors, etc
  • Responsible for AP Audit and Claim Requests
  • Performs special analyses and special projects as requested by the Accounting Manager
  • Create and maintain a positive teamwork atmosphere within the team and externally
  • Performing other duties, as assigned

Skills/Experience/Abilities that are a Must-Have:


  • Bachelor's degree required, preferred in accounting or finance
  • 5+ years accounting experience
  • 3+ years of experience AP full cycle and Month End Close
  • Excellent supervisory interpersonal skills, including good communication skills, listening skills and professional attitude
  • Experience in nonprofit is highly preferred
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Must have thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting concepts, theories, practices and analysis techniques
  • Must be proficient in advanced Excel features such as pivot tables and Vlookups
  • Must possess solid analytical, problemsolving, organizational, and interpersonal skills in order to effectively identify accounting problems and develop appropriate courses of action
  • Must have ability to develop and train staff
  • Must be able to effectively prioritize tasks in a fastpaced environment
  • Valid driver's license, access to an automobile, insurance, and willingness to drive offsite as required

Skills/Abilities we'd like you to Have:

  • Familiarity using Financial Edge, or similar accounting software
  • Nonprofit work experience
  • Ability to extract data from reports
  • Desire to work both independently and as part of a team
