- Coordinates nurse schedule for the Health Services program, developing an onboarding plan and schedule for newly hired nurses, and ensuring plan is completed.
- Collaborates with nurses and pediatrician to review, assess and manage care.
- Trains newly hired nurses in the use of electronic health record and electronic medication administration record systems.
- Evaluates initial waived testing competencies for newly hired staff and annual waived testing for Health Services staff.
- Reviews medication occurrence reports and follows up with individuals involved to debrief occurrence. Report to RN manager/DON about potential mitigation to prevent future occurrences.
- Performs all duties of the RN role when assigned direct nursing shifts, utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Associates degree from an accredited school of nursing.
- Five (5) years' experience working with a pediatric population.
- Proven knowledge of nursing practices including first aid, medication administration protocols, CPR, and infection control protocols. Prior experience with bowel screening and assessments.
- Board of Maryland licensed RN in good standing.
- Adult and pediatric CPR certification.
- Understands professional capabilities and limitations of practice and consults and / or make appropriate referrals when necessary.
- Outstanding communication and relational skills, including active listening skills, understanding and experience working with people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and abilities.
- Ability to act with discretion, tact, and remain calm and professional in all situations.
- Moving about accomplishing tasks or moving from one work site to another.
- Position requires flexibility to be available after hours, weekends, holidays, and/or emergency situations or conditions when necessary.
