Technical Product Manager - Mobile SDK

Glance Mobile SDK product engineering is a high-performing team that is passionate and motivated about meeting customer needs while also taking pride in their technical capabilities and delivery. As the Mobile SDK technical product manager, you bring a deep understanding and passion for both the technical aspects of mobile development and the needs of developers who will be using the SDK.

This role requires a combination of technical expertise, product management skills, and strategic vision to deliver innovative and impactful API solutions. Partnering with Customer Success as a "powerful pair," you hold a significant responsibility in ensuring an exceptional Developer Experience, thereby driving adoption and usage of Glance's APIs through close collaboration with developer communities, partners, and external stakeholders.

Overall, authenticity in a Mobile SDK technical product manager is characterized by a genuine understanding of mobile development, empathy for developers, a user-centric mindset, a passion for innovation, and transparency and integrity in communication and decision-making. These qualities enable the product manager to build trust, credibility, and lasting relationships with developers and stakeholders, ultimately driving the success of the SDK.

    What You'll Do

    • Develop and articulate a clear vision and strategy for the Mobile SDK product, considering market trends, customer needs, business objectives and resource constraints.
    • Prioritize usability, simplicity, and effectiveness in the SDK design, ensuring that it meets the needs of developers and adds value to their mobile app development workflow.
    • Explore new technologies, best practices, and industry trends in mobile development, and be willing to experiment, iterate, and evolve the SDK to stay ahead of the curve and deliver innovative solutions to developers.
    • Being open and transparent with stakeholders about the capabilities, limitations, and roadmap of the SDK, and acting with integrity in all interactions with developers, customers, and internal teams.
    • Shape the technical direction for our mobile SDK and be accountable for cross-functional coordination vital to its success.
    • Lead the team in agile delivery of core features that boost retention, engagement, and monetization metrics for our customers.
    • Define product requirements, creating user stories, and managing releases.
    • Engage and enable outreach specialists and external partners to promote and scale the company's developer ecosystem, APIs, and tools.
    • Provide a supportive framework that allows external developers to perform their best work, innovate and contribute meaningfully to their projects and the broader goals of their organizations.
    • Oversee and directly contribute to providing clear and comprehensive documentation that includes SDK specifications, usage examples, code samples and other relevant information.

    What You'll Need

    • 4+ years owning mobile product or customer-facing outcomes, preferably in developer-facing products like APIs and SDKs
    • Ability to define product strategy, prioritize features, and create roadmaps aligned with business goals and customer needs. Proficiency in gathering and analyzing user feedback, market research, and competitive analysis to inform product decisions
    • Technical Expertise: A Mobile SDK technical product owner must have a strong technical background in mobile app development, including proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g., Swift, Kotlin), mobile frameworks (e.g., React Native, Jetpack Compose, Android SDK), and development tools (e.g., Xcode, Android Studio).
    • Hands-on experience building software, as well as a strong degree of technical fluency that allows you to communicate with developers and translate their needs into clear product strategy
    • Experience with cross-platform mobile development for Android and iOS, that share code across multiple platforms while maintaining native performance and user experience
    • Strong understanding of networking concepts and experience integrating mobile applications with RESTful APIs, handling asynchronous data retrieval, parsing JSON/XML responses, and managing network requests.
    • Empathy for Developers who will be using the SDK. The product owner draws upon their own challenges and pain points faced as a developer in integrating and using SDKs in their projects.
    • A user-centric mindset and a deep understanding of Developer Experience (DX) principles to prioritize and optimize the developer experience
    • Strong project management skills to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and experience communicating with external stakeholders with a range of technical backgrounds
    • Interpersonal and communication skills which allow for direct customer interactions in sensitive situations as well as in normal day to day operations.
