    Job Description

    Job Title: Implementation Specialist

    Grade: 25

    Salary: $92,055 - $98,119

Under the auspices of the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH), the Center for Practice Innovations (CPI) promotes the widespread use of evidence-based practices within behavioral health provider agencies throughout New York State. Considered an "Intermediary Organization" for implementation, CPI uses innovative approaches to build stakeholder collaborations, develop and maintain practitioners' expertise, and build agency infrastructures that support implementing and sustaining evidence-based practices. CPI also works with OMH to identify and involve program participants, families, providers, and scientific/academic organizations as partners in supporting the goals of OMH and CPI.

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Implementation Specialist/Trainer position for CPI's I CONECT - Institute for Care Management, Outreach, Networking, Engagement, Connecting and Training. I CONECT will provide training, support, education, and consultation to care managers across New York State. I CONECT is looking for professionals to disseminate, implement and sustain core competencies and best practices for providers that work with people with very complex needs (mental health conditions, substance use, and physical health conditions).

The applicant applying for this position must be a self-directed team player committed to recovery-focused, person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally humble treatment, and value a data-driven approach to delivering behavioral health services. This includes openness to learning about cultural humility-based approaches to providing behavioral health services and a thorough understanding of person-centered practice - and the process and possibility of robust recovery for people who have been psychiatrically labeled. The applicants must have experience with behavioral health issues and structures through work or personal experience. Further, we seek people with good interpersonal skills who can work with diverse populations at all levels of multiple organizations. While not required, familiarity with other systems of care, including criminal justice, houselessness, and IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities), is helpful.

I CONECT is located at the Center for Practice Innovations (CPI), in the New York State Psychiatric Institute. The mission of the institute is to establish ongoing engagement, ensure integrated care, identify best practices, share core competencies, provide information, and create training opportunities that include cultural humility, person-centeredness, recovery, and trauma informed approaches for care managers throughout New York State.

The Implementation Specialist/Trainer will report directly to the Director of I CONECT. The successful candidate will also work closely with the NYS OMH. Additionally, the successful candidate will work with staff in different units (e.g., data analysis, online assistance unit, content development unit, continuing education unit) to support the work. This position will require occasional travelling throughout NYC/NYS. Finally, as a member of CPI, the Implementation Specialist/Trainer will collaborate closely with other initiatives in the center to support the work.t

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Leading or co-leading specific training efforts to support core competencies and best practices in the field of care management.
    • Leading or co-leading specific technical assistance efforts (e.g., learning communities, quality improvement projects, etc.) to support implementation of core competencies and best practices in the field of care management.
    • Developing culturally humble training materials including online modules, webinars, and in-person training.
    • Developing culturally humble implementation tools for care management agencies, program leaders, supervisors, practitioners, and program participants, including implementation guides and practice-specific workbooks.
    • Supporting the director in conducting ongoing needs assessments.
    • Staying abreast of Federal, State, and Local policies and programs for people diagnosed with mental health and substance use, and other complex needs.
    • Staying abreast of the evidence-base around evidence-based practices, best practices, and emerging issues (e.g., new illicit drugs).
    • Traveling throughout New York City and potentially to other regions of NY to provide in-person training and implementation support.
    • Working with CPI's module development unit, subject matter experts, OMH, vendors, and others to insure that new online training modules are developed and made available to learners.
    • Supporting the development of pre and post evaluations, surveys, and questionnaires for ongoing data collection.
    • Supporting director in reviewing CPI's currently existing online training modules and recommending what is relevant for this Institute.
    • Participating in the design and creation of marketing materials for Institute learning community meetings, webinars, training sessions, consultations, and support calls.
    • Writing/editing newsletters, news briefs, and project summaries.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • A Bachelor's degree and six years of experience in care management or a related field; a Master's degree and four years of experience; or a Doctorate and two years of experience.
