    Job Description Summary
    The Associate Director of the Environmental Innovations Initiative is responsible for enhancing the visibility of the Initiative and elevating Penn's collective impact related to climate, the environment, and sustainability. In particular, the Associate Director provides strategic direction and oversight of the office's communications, including its website, newsletters, social media, news, features, and other publications. The Associate Director also leads the creation and implementation of high-profile events on campus, in Philadelphia, and at national and global gatherings.

    Job Responsibilities
    • Update and carry out a visibility strategy aimed at showcasing the climate, environment, and sustainability work being done throughout Penn, including managing a vibrant website with fresh content and resources, producing a regular newsletter with timely and useful updates, and creating engaging social media content to showcase the Initiative and other groups on campus.
    • Lead the organization of high-profile events on campus, as well as at other local, national, and global gatherings. This includes serving as the administrative lead for Climate Week, which entails coordinating with schools and centers around campus to host 30+ events over five days.
    • Acts as a member of the Initiative's leadership team, collaborating with the Director on day-to-day management of the Initiative as well key efforts, such as engaging the Penn community and leaders around climate and environmental scholarship, managing the internal and external advisory committees, and fundraising.
    • Collaborates with the Director, Research Coordinator and Program Coordinator to develop and disseminate excellent programs and academically rigorous reports.
    • Hires and oversees a team of students tasked with developing written and visual content for output through various channels.
    • With the Director, manages a community of practice for representatives from peer universities to inspire knowledge transfer and collaboration.


    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master's Degree in a related field preferred.


    Job-Related Knowledge/Skill
    • Superior writing, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.
    • Strong time and project management skills are required.
    • Proven ability to work as part of a team and independently required.
    • Exceptional administrative, planning, and organizational skills are required.
    • Proficiency with website management, as well as various social media platforms required.
    • Event management experience is required.
    • Familiarity with graphic design and working with designers preferred.
    • Grant writing experience is a plus.
    • Experience with managing others considered.

    Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
